Rosemount Loyal Orange Lodge # 126 15.11.2020

In 1925 the Loyal Orange Lodge 917 members of the Munster, Ontario area raised funds to erect a Cenotaph in Munster Union Cemetery in memory of three young members of strong Orange Lodge Families, they never returned home to their Families, Community, Orange Young Briton Lodge or Loyal Orange Lodge. PTE. Edward J. Bird, PTE. R. Lorne Falls and PTE. Jonathan V. Featherston all young men signed up to fight for God, King and Country during World War 1 and remain buried in Franc...e. For 94 years a Remembrance Service has always been held to remember them and all the areas fallen soldiers and service men and women from all the conflicts throughout the years. But for the 95th year it was very different, due to the Covid 19 Pandemic this years Remembrance Day Service was canceled. But this didn’t stop us from laying a wreath today and taking time to remember their supreme sacrifice for our freedom we enjoy today. Their names are engraved on the cenotaph and Honour Roll which hangs on the Lodge Hall wall above their pictures. The oval picture of Brother Lorne Falls was presented to the Loyal Orange Lodge 917 by his mother. There is pictures of all these young Orangemen which hangs on the Lodge Room wall in a place of honour. A hand written letter is on file from Brother Edward Bird thanking the lodge for signet ring which the Lodge had presented to him, which he stated that he cherished dearly. A list of all the names of the donations is on file and there is also a brass bayonet which has several key WW1 Battles engraved on it.

This past week has saw the passing of to local long time members of Ladies Orange Benevolent Association L.O.B.A. in the Ottawa area. Both were Past Mistress of their respective lodges and now are in Gods care. Right Worshipful Sister Dorothy Kyle of LOBA 305 in Ottawa, Ontario. Thy meet at the Rosemount Orange Hall. She was a former member of Billing’s Bridge LOBA # 222 as her family were all members at Billing’s Bridge Lodge’s for many generations. Right Worshipful Siste...r Sandra Toll of LOBA 389 in Osgoode, Ontario. They meet at the Osgoode Community Center. She is my own sister and we both along with our brother were all members of Pride of Osgoode JOA 383 when we were kids. My sister and I remain members in the Loyal Orange Association of which we too have deep and strong family roots within the Orange Order in this area. She was in the LOBA and I remain an active member of the OYB, LOL, RBP, and the ABOD. Sandra was active in her community as a member and Past President of the Vernon Women’s Institute, Osgoode Museum and was a Board member Ladies Division of the Metcalfe Agricultural Society. Both were Grand Auditors of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ontario East Ladies Orange Benevolent Association at the same time and Sister Toll was the last Grand Junior Director of the Junior Orange Association for Ontario East. Both ladies had strong and deep family roots within the Orange Association for this Ottawa area and they were strong loyal supporters of the various Orange Orders events and activities and will be dearly missed by all members, family and friends. It is sad but Due to Covid 19 Regulations, both ladies can not have a full and proper LOBA Service like they truly deserve. Hopefully a small graveside service can be held?

An important date in our history that lead to the formation of the Orange Order as we know it, no surrender, ever. GSTQ

For many years our lodge had a parade float for our senior members. So that they could still participate in the Orange parades.
