PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: There have been a large number of people exploring the Abraham Lake area this winter. Please note that the lake itself is not frozen at th...is time. Most people are instead visiting an area known as Preachers Point, which connects to Abraham Lake but sits over the North Saskatchewan River and has flowing water underneath. Coupled with the recent warm weather and high winds, this flowing water has resulted in thin patches of ice that may break under the weight of a person. There is also a lack of cell phone coverage in this area, which increases emergency response time should an incident occur. Please take extra precautions and avoid venturing onto the ice. See more

We love our new logo! The centre of the SARscene 2021 logo represents the SAR disciplines of ground, air and marine; the helping hands are symbolic of reaching ...out across Canada to help others. The outer ring is the compass that helps guide us to the lost, missing or injured person, and then brings us safely back home. September 24-26, 2021. See you in Saskatoon! This conference is made possible by the SAR NIF Program through Public Safety Canada and the National Search and Rescue Secretariat. ** While the Covid-19 pandemic may impact SARscene 2021, we are currently moving forward in anticipation of hosting this conference as we normally would. We will continue to monitor national and provincial advisories and, as necessary, adjust our plans as the dates of the conference draw closer. ______ On aime notre nouveau logo! #SARVAC #SAR #SARscene #SARNIF #LandofLivingSkies

Visiting Rogers Pass for some early season turns? The Winter Permit System will be in effect on Nov. 18, 2020. Remember, if there's enough to ride, there's e...nough to slide. An early season snowpack can be variable and weak due to inconsistent depth, temperatures, wind slabs and rain events. Large natural avalanches have already been observed in Rogers Pass. Make conservative choices and ensure you have the training and equipment to travel in avalanche terrain and practice self-rescue techniques. Review Glacier National Park’s daily avalanche bulletin before you head out: https://avalanche.pc.gc.ca/bulletin-eng.aspx?d=TODAY&r=3
