Ok everyone an update, yes the virus has changed the world for the center and birds, we have been closed with limited access, and in lockdown, to protect our bird care people and the birds of course, We are now accepting applications for the July 1 falconry/handling course, (new flyer coming) but you can see the previous flyers for content. The course now, is 'private' lessons due to the virus, but now private sessions. Option of 6 month or 3 month still available. Payment plans are still available as well. We are only allowing a few to accomodate social distancing, so with the confirmed students we have room for 2 -3 more for July 1 (depending on individual scheduling), and rest of application will be held for the Sept 1 course. Hope that answers some of your questions, if not call 604-308-3010 for more information.
Creance/line flying
Creance/line flying, as handlers are in training, bonding, and birds being conditioned for free flying, creance flying is safer and can be more fun for the new handlers and birds, when some of the fear of loosing the bird can compromise the training and sessions. The birds are already trained to it, so they have fun regardless.
To answer a few questions, first for those concerned about holidays or time away, you don't have to pay for the weeks pre-booked away, and may be added at the end to extend your access to the birds, training, practice time and the center, second for those concerned of weekly time, keep in mind that summer hours can be extended, by appointment only, to evening sessions, to 9 pm, when daylight allows, third we do not give 'Certificates of Completion' upon completion, as those r...eally qualified with the birds, would get the same certificate as the ones putting in less effort and not as qualified, we will issue 'personal Letters of Recommendation', stating training completed, what may need further time and training, and what training was excelled at. We find that more helpful for those already in the animal industry to add to resume, and those applying to enter the industry. Any additional questions may be called or text to the 604-308-3010 # and we will address all general questions as they come in. See more
What's a bird center without local hummies, if there is no work getting done, it's usually because of the many we have resident on the mountain. Hard not to just watch them, for a while, ok maybe an hour!
