Set SMART goals. Specific - Measurable - Ambitious - Relevent - Timely Specific: Without a specific goal, how can you celebrate if it is not specific. They have no meaning to them if they are not specific.... Measurable: This will help you stay on track and know where you at in achieving your goals. Ambitious: To be honest, the actual word is attainable or achievable although I have never wanted to set a goal that is achievable. I believe you need to think 10x and create ambitious goals. When you go after stretched goals, it forces you to do things differently and think outside of the box. Relevant: Is your goal relevant? Is it relevant to your life and vision? If you don't have a vision for your business, then there is nothing for it to be relevant too so you have to make sure you have a vision in your business. Timely: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose is to create urgency. #entrepreneur #custombuilder #customhomebuilder #homeservice #business #contractor #trade #renovator #newbuild #design #businessdesign #businesssecretes #ceo #leader #leadership #tools #strategies See more

I've always worked with 3-year visions. I feel like it's the perfect number. It's close enough in the period of time where I can adjust it and it's not too far out that I can't see it. I know in a year's time from now my vision might be completely different but we have to have a starting point. From the 3 year vision, you have an idea about what you need to achieve in 1 year to be on track to get there. From there you can reverse those goals. Figure out what needs to be done in 90 days to reach that 1-year goal which will help you reach that 3-year goal. It is a process to get there but this will get you the most clarity of direction that you need to go in.

Now here is the big one, the operations of your business need to operate as smoothly and efficiently as possible. What good do the marketing and sales tactics of McDonald's do if you get a crummy burger from them? Would you be likely to go back if it was a terrible burger? Some of the same people who don’t prefer Mcdonalds still go there in a pinch if they are hungry. Why? Because they know what they are getting every time. Our businesses have to operate with the same predi...ctability. You can’t build one house that takes three times as long as another with identical specs. Having a business that delivers consistently outstanding service is absolutely necessary. The easiest way to accomplish this is to create clear Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs. For example, Mcdonald's uses the same vendors for all of their food deliveries, premakes their food, and uses infrared heat lamps to keep food serving temperature, they wrap their burgers a certain way, so on and so forth. These are examples of procedures designed to help the business run as lean and efficient as possible. As a business owner, you should be looking to find out, what are my ways to wrap the burger? How can I help my teamwork as simply as possible and consistently create services and products that reflect my business and brand? Every business operation has these aspects, and fine-tuning them over time, will take time. It’s not about changing everything in a day, it is about changing the right things to create the best outcomes.

I love working with action takers. As an entrepreneur it is in your hands to implement the strategies that I teach. That is why I say that you get out what you put in. And that's what happened with Adam. Adam came to one of our Weekend Blueprints at the beginning of the year that helps you get the clarity, confidence and courage to make the necessary changes in your business to get that freedom that you want. Good job, Adam! Can't wait to keep getting the updates!

The mentor I worked with helped me obtain all of these things. You see, I had to slow down in order to speed my business up. I had to go back to the drawing board on some things so I could develop better systems and practices. I learned the importance of busting through limiting self beliefs. We experienced exponential growth for a number of years and I even had to bust another ceiling. I had prescribed a Constant and Never Ending Improvement (CANEI) Model for success. Howe...ver, it wasn't until I had an abundance of financial freedom that I realized . . . I didn’t have any time. I was completely glued to my phone. I missed my family and while they were enjoying vacations and time together, I was stuck dealing with problem after problem. I realized I didn’t have true freedom. COMMENT BELOW WHAT YOU WOULD RATHER. TIME, MONEY OR BOTH?!

My business was doing well, we were growing, but soon enough I started to drown in the day to day of the business. I had reached my first complexity ceiling. I was beginning to feel overwhelmed, overworked, and like there was no way I could grow the business any more. In short, I was going crazy. The reality is, I couldn’t grow the business anymore, not with the way it was running at the time. Through a series of events I ended up getting in touch with a phenomenal mentor. I... realized three really important things: 1. I had to radically shift my thinking. 2. I needed to be surrounded by like minded people. 3. I needed new systems, structures and procedures to implement. COMMENT "YES" BELOW IF YOU ARE PART OF AN ASSOCIATION OR GROUP AND SURROUNDED BY LIKEMINDED ENTREPRENEURS

COMMENT DOWN BELOW WHAT FUELS YOUR DESIRE? IS IT FREEDOM WITH MONEY? IS IT TIME WITH FAMILY? IS IT TO BUILD A LEGACY? It All Boils Down to Your Desire. How badly do you want it? What are you willing to do to obtain your goals? I didn’t want to be on the team badly enough, if I did I wouldn’t have lost my spot. Desire fuelled many aspects of my approach to business when I became older. I realized that if I truly wanted one thing in the future, that could mean that I have... to sacrifice something else in the immediate. In business, we see this all the time. Are you willing to sacrifice some of your profits to hire the best person for the job? Are you willing to invest in a marketing campaign? These are choices that measure our desire.

COMMENT BELOW WHICH YOUNG KID YOU THINK IS ME IN THE PICTURE Long story short, I played hockey growing up and when I was 13 I was cut from the team. It shattered me. I felt completely crushed. Someone is Always Gunning for Your Spot. As hard as it is to admit, I deserved to lose my spot. I was way too comfortable. Other kids spent the off season training, getting faster, stronger, better. It was a tough pill to swallow, but I realize now that if I am not committed to gro...wing and evolving, I don’t deserve anything. Ultimately, I wasn’t doing what I needed to in order to maintain my position on the team. This lesson helped me with business, because the same is true for our competition. They are always trying to get better, develop better procedures, products, technology or practices. If you don’t continuously focus on your own growth, you will lose to competition just as I did at 13.

I believe if you can live by the principle of 'Always doing the right thing', your company will operate by that principle, your employees will follow that principle, your customers will benefit from it and you will reap the rewards. I believe this is how all businesses should be run. How can you accomplish this with every client? By tending to their needs before your own. Seek to create WOW’’ at every possible juncture and minimize the potential client upsets. When working on a remodel for example, don't rely on the general contractor to make things happen. If you have the skills, tools, and time, do what you can to satisfy the customer. Use them to differentiate yourself from your competition and turn all your client interactions into business growth opportunities.
