Today is #BellLetsTalk Day, and we just wanted to let all of our cadets and their families know that we are here to support you. This year is unlike anything we have ever experienced, so if your are struggling, demotivated, overwhelmed, or don’t even know how to describe what you’re feeling, just know that you are certainly not alone. We’ve put together some free and virtual resources for you to access, and you can certainly share these with other cadets, friends, or family... who may need an extra bit of support during these challenging times. Take care of yourselves, and look out for one another. You mean more to our team than you even know. Govt of Canada COVID-19 Resources: https://www.mentalhealthcommission.ca/.../government... Hey Cadets!! Hope everyone had a great training night yesterday! While we did have a few kinks along the way, they were mostly smoothed out before the end. So here is a small video introducing some of your cadet staff for the 2020-2021 training year! Hope you all like it!

With our 2020-2021 Training Year around the corner, we cannot help but think back to two long standing members of our squadron staff who will not be joining us this year: Capt Jan Olson and Maj Marc Moo Sang have finally taken their well-deserved retirement. Both members have been involved with the cadet program for well over 20 years, and have played a significant role in building this squadron to the great success it is today. A younger Maj Moo Sang trained our drill team... for over a dozen years, leading to a reputation of being the squadron to beat, and more recently, Capt Olson returned to 51 Squadron to establish an epic Marksmanship team that has seen members decorated across Canada, both in and out of the Cadet Marksmanship competition. However, coaching a team simply wasn't enough for either of these incredible members. They actively participated in many squadron activities, often using their personal connections to enrich our Field Training Exercises, Winter Fun Days, Walkathons, and Obstacle Course days over the years. These experiences have left a lasting impact on cadets across Canada, including ones that would eventually fall in their footsteps to become staff members with the cadet program, and many more enrolling in the Canadian Armed Forces at large, and the Cadet Instructors Cadre. One of the greatest lessons we all learned from these two was that leaders must always be training their replacements, and while they fully prepared us over the years for their eventual departure, they simply cannot be replaced. Cheers to them and the many memories they leave with us. It is with their help that 51 Squadron became the Place to Be and the Squadron to Beat!

We’re live at Beechwood National Military Cemetery in #Ottawa for the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Our ceremony is smal...l this year, but you can expect a wreath laying ceremony, readings by veterans and cadets, and possibly a fly-by from Vintage Wings of Canada aircraft representing those aircraft flown in the Battle of Britain.

As this year’s cadet training begins, we would like to give a heartfelt send off to one of our very own, ex-WO1 Megan Roy. Megan joined the Air Cadet Program in 2013 with 18 Dartmouth Lions Sqn in Shearwater, NS and has recently completed the program as Cadet Commander of 51 Aviation and Space Museum Sqn in Ottawa, ON. She is currently participating in the ROTP program at the Royal Military College. She is a powerful role model towards whoever she meets and we are eager to see what the future holds for her! Cheers to you and all of your accomplishments, Megan!
