This is what the affordable housing smokescreen has been covering up. The Province made a secret deal to sell the #FoundrySite months ago. The MZO was just the icing on a cake being served to a still-unnamed buyer. #SaveTheFoundry
Those attending the virtual session were also told some of the residents will be transferred from the 98 Esplanade shelter, which will CLOSE in the spring.
read the "proposed" one way street in the Esplanade??????????
The new shelter at Novotel, 45 The Esplanade I think is a good thing, the hotel is empty anyway... this way they recover some of the cost of running on empty. At the same time we give some relief to the homeless to be inside in this weather together with other services. We must remember the homeless people, some have mental issues and we don't have a place for them like we used to have at 999 Queen St. West. Of course we have the alcoholic and drug users but most of them have mental problems that the system does not address. I don't mind if they are living at Novotel for the year.
Well deserved recognition to Isorine Marc, founder of Jamii Esplanade. This year marks 10 years Isorine’s and Jamii’s efforts to enrich and create meaningful art by engaging the St. Lawrence community.
