Great video from my Friend and fellow Physiotherapist Aleksandra Nenadic. I also agree with her. My personal take on the study of the squat is as long as the heel stays in contact with the floor and that a good portion of the weight is on your heel throughout the exercise you are limiting stress on the knees, hips and back. Plus, feel free to go as low as possible, research shows that it is beneficial for many parts of your body including your intestines. Train full range with body weight and assisted if needed and progress as able. If you have any questions or would like to have your squat assessed, feel free to contact me!

This is a difficult subject to bring on. For years as a physiotherapist and a person I have kept quiet as I heard many "experts" talk about sleeping on your bac...k or your side and adding pillows left and right, even between you knees while you sleep. How did our ancestors ever slept without pillows? So many animals sleep on their bellies, babies and young kids switch straight on their bellies most times we put them in bed. Watch kids and learn. Did you know!? When your doctor gives you a referral for physiotherapy, YOU can decided where to go? This true, while your doctor may tell you to go to a clinic near you or the clinic close to the medical center , YOU can choose where you want to receive your physiotherapy treatments. YOUR choice will NOT affect your insurance coverage. So either you have pain, limitations, injuries etc, I sincerely hope that you take time to call the clinics and choose a place for you. Here ...at 5th element physio, we offer 60 minutes scheduling. This means that if your are scheduled for a 4pm treatment, we will not schedule another treatment before 5pm. Your sessions may not always take 60 minutes but that time will be reserve for YOU. You will be able to receive appropriate treatment for your condition and some take home exercises to help you with it. This way we will both be working together to improve and achieve results. This is one of the exercises I have learn as a personal trainer always looking to know more and improve personally and improved my clients fitness or pain. Thes...e are the things that makes 5th element physio different and special, not just the exercises below but when and how to use it. Most professionals have never heard of guys like Paul Chek. In this video Paul Shows a back extension from below I call it. He calls it Reverse hyperextension. Reverse in this case is from below the belt, that is why I call it from below. Hyperextension is a weird term. It sounds as if we are going in extreme position or extension. However, it just means going past normal straight posture. Since being standing straight is basically standing in extension or erected. (Thus homo erectus). I don't use hyperextension since it sounds like it is going past normal extension position. OF NOTE, not all exercises are for everyone. It is better to seek professional help/guidance before starting exercising. If you wish to practice this exercise, know that there are always ways to make an exercise easier and harder. It is better to start at your level or experience to avoid and reduce chances of injuries, make symptoms worst or hurting yourself. Hi everyone, just last weekend I went to Toronto to take the Acupuncture (AA2) course. Of course, everywhere I go I make sure to have lots of fun but I really enjoyed our group. We learn a lot while laughing and having good fun. ANyways, I have now even more acupuncture points to help my clients with a increasing number of problems. Acupuncture used by physiotherapist is centtered on physiotherapist finding and goals. It helps client in thier physiotherapy needs like decrease pain, increase Range of motion, reduce muscle tension, return to activities and function. At 5th element physio, I make sure that you get the time you need with your physiotherapist. This in turn provides the best chance for healing and getting you back to being yourself. Health, Gilbert

Hi all, The snow is starting to pile up and we will have to strat shoveling soon again. REMEMBER that shoveling is a HIGH intensity activity and if you are not trained in these kind of activity it can put a huge stress on your heart and body. Even if you are trained in these exercises, proper warm up is needed. (Yes more then just dressing up to go outside with you big winter coat and boots). If you have any questions about how to proceed safely by sure to drop me a line. Tak...e your time, plan ahead and don't be caught having to shovel 5 minutes before you need to leave. Perfect video about modifying the push ups and progressing it to fit your training and fitness level. I show it in stairs if you don't have a quat rack (most people don't). You can therefore do it at home. Keep perfect form, don't sag and enjoy. Awesome for everyone as long as you keep good technique, posture and don't progress too quick.

Hi all, Given that September is literally just around the corner, I would like to prepare you for Sugar Free September(SugarFree, SugarFreeMom.com, sugarfree, Sugar Free September CA). Know that you don't have to start off cutting everything in your diet, you can start small and progress during the month. So first, let's see why cut sugar in your diet and how it could benefit you. 1. Weight loss 2. Decrease bad cholesterol... 3. Decrease risk of heart attack 4. Decrease risk of brain related problems (dementia, Alzheimer's disease...) 5. Lower risk of diabetes 6. Better looking skin 7. Decrease panic attack and anxiety 8. Less cravings 9. More energy and less crashes during the day 10. Better oral hygiene and cleanliness 11. Decrease rates of cancer 12. ... and the list goes on and on Now to address the comment that I believe I heard the most last year... "But sugar is in everything". Well yes... and no, let's explore. Sugar is a very important part of life, it is in every living species (animal & plants). Yet, we, humans, like to break things down so far that there is nothing left... or so we believe. We also like to deceive to get what we want. This is why the sugar topic sounds a lot more complicating then it is. Therefore, let's keep it simple, good sugar are those found in fruits, vegetable, meats and plants (spices...) where you actually eat the whole product at the same time. One should work at keeping ratio of 1 fruit for 1 vegetable however. Fruits should not be canned fruits but fresh, frozen or well preserved like homemade jam is the best. I would also suggest local or organics or even biodynamic (gold standard of certified organics) food is best. The bad sugar, is the one that has been processed, broken down and probably invented in some ways and given a cool name like (inverted sugar) wow that sounds cool, or even (raw sugar) sounds healthy right!? Sure, there are sugars that are better than others like honey and maple syrup but make no mistake, they are sugars and they can increase symptoms like sweet addiction, leaky gut, digestion problems etc. Stevia is another good/better choice for sweetening your coffee and foods but will do nothing to suppress sweet craving. To help you with sugar names, if you are reading from a ingredient list, here is a link to 56 sugar names: https://www.thecandidadiet.com/56-names-sugar-eating-reali/. What's sad is that this list is not even near complete. Stay away from sweeteners at all cost. Diet drinks and even 0 calorie drink (except for water of course), is to be avoided like cancers. They contained some of the worst sweeteners possible. In short, eat what mother nature is making and not what the chemist is making. If there is a label, chances are that there is sugar in there, probably hidden under a strange or very cool name. Hey all, Sugar Free September is coming up... yes, it has already been one year since I challenged you to go sugar free or to greatly reduce the amount of sugar in your diet. I would encourage everyone of you to do so again this year and keep it up after September is over, your health will thank you I promise. Since I received lots of comments and questions last year, I will share every Monday tips, information and some of my own meals (in writing) for you to read. Hi, I'm Angélique Cléroux a student from L'Escale who had the opportunity to spend the last 6 weeks at the clinic for my coop course. I was introduced to the wo...rk of physiotherapist and personal trainer as well as other things such as acupuncture, dry needling, and massage therapy. For all of you who have met me, it was a privilege to meet you and I thank you for trusting me during your sessions with Gilbert. It was a privilege for me to work with Gilbert who is without a doubt passionate about his work and is devoted to the well-being of his patients. He was very patient while teaching me the techniques and always answered my multiple questions calmly. Yesterday, was my last day working at the clinic but it is the start of new beginnings for Gilbert and the clinic and me. Thank you very much!! As you may know if you've read my other posts, I have the privilege of welcoming a student from l'Escale as part of a coop course for the month of July and the first week of August. Almost three weeks have already passed and I hope she is enjoying her time here as much as we are enjoying having her. I am telling you, anyone who thinks that our youth is lazy and uninterested in learning or life in general has not met this young woman. Looking forward to teach and share my experiences with her and hopefully be a small part of her future success. She has a bright one.

Hi all, here is a picture of the bottles. I ordered 25, 10 green, 10 blue and 5 red (since green and blue are my colors. I am technically not making any profit. The cost was approx. 475$. If I would sell them all I would make 25$ profit. However, I have to give away some... and I'd like to keep one. So there you go, no profit. They look great and glass does not emit chemicals in your water (and/or) liquids. Plastic is a waste product in our environment. Let me know if you wan...t one, I only ask a 20$ in exchange of one.
