We have been talking so much about donuts lately and for good reason! After watching The Donut King Documentary, we felt this universal push to reach out to the owner of DK's Donuts & Bakery and let her know how much her story inspired us. She saw the need to take a traditional donut shop that her parents started back in the 1980’s and revamp it. Mayly redid the branding and marketing, created some crazy donut flavors, brought her presence to social media and connected with ...her audience. We sent Mayly a DM and to our surprise, she messaged us back and we set up a time to chat. The day has finally come when we can announce our exciting collaboration with DK’s Donuts all the way in California! (See our previous posts to read how this fun partnership came to be) We have customized a virtual photo booth experience for DK’s Donuts and everyone to use! We connected because of our parent’s history and because of our determination to educate others about the genocide. And we thought our connection would create a beautiful and meaningful story. DID YOU KNOW 90% of donut shops in LA are owned by Cambodian Americans? This is just one of the things we learned from The Donut King Documentary which is a MUST SEE by the way! In the documentary, we learned about Mayly Tao, owner of DK's Donuts & Bakery who took a traditional LA donut shop that her parents started back in 1981 and turned it into one of the best donut shops in America. I mean, this unique shop has over 120 unique donut flavours! Think bacon infused, ub...e and a croissant and donut hybrid! We were instantly hooked on Mayly’s story, DK’s branding and how she took her family’s humble donut shop idea and turned it into something bigger. We love entrepreneurs who push the envelope and thought it would be neat to reach out to Mayly and tell her how her story inspired us, not only on a business level but a personal level as well. Hey everyone, Sambath here! The series of posts that you will read are interconnected in a meaningful way. Recently, I watched a documentary called The Donut King and was fascinated by the story. I’d like to share how my parents, along with many other Cambodian people, immigrated to Canada and escaped what is now known as The Killing Fields that wiped out about 1/4 of the country’s population in the mid 1970’s. My Mom told me many stories about the incredible obstacles she... had to endure like having to cross a river with crocodiles nearby while carrying my older brother, who was a newborn at the time, above her head. Or how she came face to face with a tiger in the jungle and was fortunate to walk away unscathed. These stories seem unfathomable, yet they were a common reality for many people. The genocide was a horrific experience. Books have been written, many stories have been told but I often forget it happened. After watching The Donut King Documentary, I was inspired. It tells the story of Ted Ngoy, a Cambodian refugee who escaped the war torn country, immigrated to California and built a donut empire. Ted Ngoy sponsored other Cambodian immigrants who wanted to rebuild their lives in America. He trained them to make donuts, created jobs for them and even helped many launch their own donut shops. In just a few short years after settling in America, Ted Ngoy owned over 50 donut shops creating an empire that stretched throughout the state of California. Not only was he a motivated business person, but he was an extremely kind and generous person, who genuinely wanted to see his fellow countrymen succeed. Why am I telling you all of this? First and foremost, I want to educate you about the genocide. Second, there is a really inspirational story behind donut shops in America that we will keep sharing with you in future posts. These times are a little crazy right now, to say the least. As we enter into even more restrictions later this week, we resonate with all of you in the events industry, small business world, wedding couples, local companies, charities and organizations that need to postpone or cancel their major celebrations. Typically, we are doing 4-5 events per week until the end of December so you can imagine how slooooow this season has become for us. But we are doing our best to look on the bright side (just like this beautiful backdrop), and know this won’t last forever. Practice more patience, spread even more kindness and let’s party again IRL when we can!

Hi Friends Over the last few weeks, we have had some new followers show up so let’s do another intro Photos are important to us. We wouldn’t be in this biz if they weren’t.... Recently celebrated our 12th year of marriage. Wishing we had a photo booth at our wedding! Traveling is one of our favourite things. We have been to Italy, Hawaii, Seattle and travel to BC pretty much every year. We love a good movie. Anyone else watching a ton of them lately? Local restaurants have the best food! Our roots are Khmer and Italian. It’s no wonder our kids love pizza and noodles. We love a well made Caesar! Where can we find a good one in the Peg? xo
