OTT City Run Club 23.11.2020

Wave 2 is here and we’re still taking a break. It’s the only way we know 100% that OCRC won’t contribute to the spread of Covid. Please continue to do your part to keep others safe and yourself. The more diligent we are, the sooner we return to the Tuesday run. #ocrcforever

Still lovin’ the crew even though we aren’t meeting in the park right now. It’s been over 6 months since we’ve all gathered for a Tuesday run. Let me tell you - I did not see this coming. Just to reiterate - OCRC will get back to it as soon as it is safe to do so but for now continues to remain on hiatus. As we deepen into the second wave of the pandemic, it’s important to remind our runners why we continue to distance.... 1. We are not revenue-based and therefore no one’s livelihood depends on it. 2. It would be VERY difficult to contact trace in the event that there was a Covid case linked to OCRC. 3. It’s difficult for us to manage the gathering size of our group without a signup. That has a whole set of challenges I don’t even want to think about. Again, I am so grateful for your understanding and your continued to commitment to the Ottawa run community. There will be fun things to come and you can expect to be able to grab some tanks just in time for winter () Stay safe OCRC and continue to do your part to keep your community safe.

Happy 5th birthday OCRC! This years celebration didn’t really go as planned but this is a community that is always worth celebrating. The biggest thank you to everyone who continues to love and support our run community - even when we can’t be together. We will get back to the park - and when we do, it will be a celebration and a half. ... Want to celebrate virtually??? Check out our #OCRC555 story highlight for the details on a virtual race.

ATTN OCRC RUNNERS: The question keeps getting asked; when will OCRC resume? The short answer: Not anytime soon. ... It would be socially irresponsible for us to resume right now, as we are not a business that relies on revenue - and often our summer group size looks a lot like the one in the photo. Do I trust that everyone will do their best to social distance? Yes. BUT, the safety of our community and their friends and family remains our top priority and with that in mind we have opted to remain remote, knowing that is the best way we can contribute to a healthy community. There are many incredible local fitness businesses that I encourage you to support instead. There are businesses that need to pay rent, pay their team, and more - all with little to no income right now. Many fitness businesses are offering online classes and will be opening up their doors soon (in a safe way)! OCRC is going to use this time off to challenge how we do things. How we create a more diverse and inclusive community. How we keep our community safe from this virus and safe from hate. We appreciate your understanding, love, and continuous support. We can’t wait to run together again.

OCRC presents : THE TEAM SOLO SERIES Brought to you by @alihasdogs and inspired by Run Free Grand Prix. Many of us crave connection and community and - let's face it - a little competition. You’re going to race as a team - but you have to do it solo. 3 events. 3 weekends. ... Alright, you’re interested? Reminiscing about the days when we could all safely stand together. Initially we planned on halting our runs for two weeks until the world got back on track - well, two weeks is up and the world is certainly not back on track. Our runs are cancelled indefinitely but we are going to be bringing you some fun ways to connect virtually with your run community. I hope we don’t need to remind you to #runsolo - but please...run solo. ... If you are in a position to support other local businesses, do so. As we move into our third week of isolating many small businesses are feeling the stress. We can’t wait to run together again. Wild times. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay away from people.
