Dear 70 Mile Yard Sales Fans....... It is with great regret that the Wood Islands and Area Dev Corp. made the decision in May 2020 to postponed the September 70-Mile Yard Sale event due to the COVID infection and its rapid spread occurring at the time. At the time of decision making, yard sales, social gatherings etc. including (visitors from Atlantic Prov.) were not permitted on PEI. Considerations must to be in place prior for a large gathering event are:... Approved COVID Operational plan, gatherings criteria and monitoring masks and hand cleaning must be present, in order for such an event to happen on Eastern PEI. A Look and only Touch if you are buying. This would be additional weighted responsibility and accountability for the Board of WIADC as the creator of this event if an increase of COVID cases would to occur. 70 Mile Yard Sale Planning ........In the Best of Times: There is a great deal of logistics involved: advance paperwork, renting sites, funding, food preparation, advertising cost along with volunteers help, that would need to be in place commencing in March. The annual hours of creation of 70-Mile Yard Sale begins in March and ends after September. Like many other well-known events cancelled, (Old Home Week,) on PEI, along with daily weekly revisions of Covid protocol, which seems to depend on the on the number of active cases, the board members and volunteers made the decision to postpone this event in May because of uncertainties coming in Sept. 2020. We encourage any family and their members to place At home yard sale at any time.
