Yoga was initially developed over 5,000 years ago in Northern India by the Indus-Sarasvati civilization. It was then refined and further developed in the sacred... text, the Upanishads, by the mystic seers, the Brahmans and Rishis. Out of these yogic scriptures the most known and studied is the Bhagavad-Gîtâ, composed around 500 B.C.E. Fast forward to the first systematic presentation of yoga in the second century, Patanajli’s Yoga Sutras. Patanajli, to the day, is considered the father of yoga. Yoga masters did not begin to travel to the west to share yoga until the 1800’s and 1900’s. However, the early texts are still studied in the modern practice today! 7th Ray Studio has classes for all Yogis. Classes are Sunday at 9am, Tuesday at 6pm and Thursday at 7pm. Yes. So........ why do we continue to go back to the mind again and again in an endless seeking for peace, meaning, and identity? Simply because we have not... awakened to the effortless and limitless nature of our eternal divinity, beyond the mind's stories, assessments, interpretations, opinions and objectifications of life. We cannot imagine that what we truly are is beyond the grasp of mind's conceptual abilities. Meditation - The gathering in of our awareness so that it may be gently pointed beyond mind's incessant conceptualizations, to discover an indescribable truth of BEing that the mind has been covering up all along with its limited interpretations of life and of self.
