They tell you not to cry. They tell you that it's just a dog, not a human being. They tell you that the pain will be over.... They tell you that the animals don't know that they have to die. They tell you that it's important not to let him suffer. They tell you that you can have another one. They tell you it's going to happen to you. They tell you that there is more pain. But they don't know how many times you've looked into your dog’s eyes. They don't know how many times you and your dog have looked into darkness alone. They don't know how many times your dog was the only one who was by your side. They don't know how much fear you have at night when you wake up with your grief. They don't know how many times your dog slept near you. They don't know how much you've changed since the dog has become a part of your life. They don't know how many times you hugged him when he was sick. They don't know how many times you've acted like you didn't see his hair getting whiter. They don't know how many times you've talked to your dog, the only one who really hears. They don't know that it was just your dog who knew you were in pain. They don't know what it feels like to see your old dog trying to get up to say hello. They don't know that if things went wrong, the only one who didn't go is your dog. They don't know that your dog trusts you every moment of his life, even in the last. They don't know how much your dog loved you and how it is enough for him to be happy, because you loved him. They don't know that crying for a dog is one of the most noble, significant, true, purest and warmest things you can do. They don't know when the last time you moved him with trouble... making sure it didn’t hurt him. They don't know what it felt like to pet their face in the last moments of their life.... Hello Peeps and Puppers, Rhiannon and I are working hard to get everyone done that missed their appointments in March/April by the end of May. We have seen a lot of home grooming jobs that has kept us entertained! I must say I am so proud of all of you! I thought I was going to be shaving a lot of dogs because of matting, but it turns out, you have surprised us! Yes there are some coats that were just too long and thick that the dogs got out of control. On the whole you ...all did really well! We have some very pretty dogs walking out of the shop! Now that we are almost out of the backlog of dogs, we are back to normal and booking 8-10 weeks in advance for new clients. If there is a senior citizen that you know could use our help and is finding it hard to get an appointment for their dog, please let us know. We need to look after our seniors, I would love to help them. Please give me a call and I will do my best and groom their dog. If there is anything you need help with regarding your dogs please feel free to reach out and I will do my best to help, or advise and point you in the right direction. Every month I will post something that is informative and helpful to you all. Thanks again Nancy The Dog Groomer.

Hello to all my friends, I want to send out a big THANK YOU Thank you for all the support during the shut down Thank you for all your messages and emails Thank you for coming together and helping me open for those in need, dogs and hoomans!! THANK YOU... Your patience has paid off!! Because everyone stayed put in their homes we have all helped flatten the curve and save many lives. Doug Ford has let us open on Monday May 11th. That does not mean a free for all!! All restrictions will still be in place when it comes to personal safety. We still need to operate as a non contact business. We need to, together, keep everyone safe. There are specific instructions everyone must follow on the front door when entering the shop. We need to stick to them. I don’t know about you but I do not what a round 2 of this shut down. I will be calling everyone in order in which you missed your appointments, starting on March 18th and working through each day until you are all booked back in. If you have an appointment in the book in the coming weeks it will be kept as is. My hope is to get you all back on track by the end of May. During the lock down I did not book any new appointments so my schedule has opened up, this being said please be patient and please wait for my call. I will not be taking any new clients at this time. Most not all groomers have opened up so please be patient, call your own groomer and take care of them. Again THANK YOU I couldn’t have done it without you and your support!!!

Good morning! Yes I did read the article in the Star this morning. Unfortunately there are some groomers who are not following the rules. They are opening up to just bath Fluffy and make her look pretty again. At The Dog Groomer we are ONLY doing dogs that desperately need it for their health and well being! Dogs for seniors that just cannot groom themselves, Guide dogs, yes that forgotten group. The government is asking a blind person to trim the eyes and nails. Really!...? I totally agree with only allowing groomers who have gone through the necessary avenues to open up safely and only for those in need. As I have said in a previous post, I have taken all the precautions necessary to keep animals and humans safe. I will continue to fight for the forgotten people and there dogs in this pandemic! I refuse to let any dog or human in need, of emergency services. See more

Hello everyone in Campbellville, I truly hope you are well and safe. As some of you know, I own The Dog Groomer in Campbellville. Some of you may have noticed dogs coming into the shop and I am back in the front window grooming again. Let me assure you after a lot of preparation and legal discussions with the authorities dictating over the essential services, some groomers have been allowed to open for dogs with medical needs and dogs with owners that are completely unable... to do some essential grooming on their own. I can assure you that in the last six weeks I have prepared my shop and made it a non contact zone between myself, assistant, and all owners. I have been out in the grocery stores, pharmacy’s, pet stores and drive throughs. I can assure you my shop is much safer than any of the above. According to the by-law enforcement officer we are good to go. I know some of you have absolutely no idea what we do in the shop. All misconceptions of us just playing with dogs and making them look pretty is completely wrong. Let me explain, we look after and care for the dogs, we are the first line of defence for your pets! The normal pet sees the vet once a year for shots, we see them anywhere between 4-8 weeks. We see the subtle changes, owners don’t notice, we find the infections, cancerous lumps, ticks, fleas, burrs imbedded in the skin. Humans changed the DNA structure of the canine from shedding feral animals to a non shedding hypo allergenic pet. We have created the problems and are more than willing to take care of them for that perfect pet. We find the problem and advise to see a Vet. Owners trust us because of the relationship we build with the pet. As in reverse, the Vets recommend us to help with diagnosed issues. When Groomers across North America were shut down because of the covid pandemic, dogs suffered. I am only grooming dogs that need my help. Seniors that are a fixed income cannot afford an emergency vet fee for something very simple like a anal gland expression, that I usually don’t even charge for with regular clients. Medicated baths on a 200 pound Newfoundland dog, most vets are not even equipped for this let alone be able to do it! That is why groomers are essential! So before you judge that dog in my parking lot, maybe you should realize there are many dogs out there that actually need us! Thank you Susan Capone for allowing this post. If there are any concerns or questions feel free to contact me directly. Nancy The Dog Groomer See more
