It is important in the bush to read "signs". Take for instance this photo. Notice the groomers from Sault Ste Marie and Wawa? Notice the bright sunshine and ...mild temperatures? Lastly, notice all of the snow piled up on the lodge and pumps? What these "signs" are telling us is that the trails are still amazing, camp is full of food and fuel and that it's time for you to ride that beautiful sled up here and experience Halfway Haven at it's finest! Our ride to Black Creek today. Awesome, trails were great (BM2 and D106), just watch for those branches and twigs that are sticking out, they can catch you by ...surprise. Met the Echo Bay Groomer and chatted with Ryan McLeod. Had a great lunch and conversation with Jean at Black Creek Outfitters. Kudos to the groomer operators Bud Bringleson and Ryan McLeod for a job well done. When you’re riding these two trails be sure and take a look at all the trees that had to be removed in order to get them opened. Hard work by lots of people working together. The ice crossing from St Joseph Island to Bruce Mines is officially open !

Stay tuned for some good news coming early this week with the opening of the D and SSM5 trails which will complete the Searchmont loop. Excavators will be finis...hing up the last portion on Monday and we expect to open shortly thereafter once groomers are through. The excavators will then be working on the D trail towards Garden River bridge which we hope to open before too long. Riders and in particular the female riders will be impressed with the new outhouse that has been set up at the D and SSM5 trail junction. We also know riders are also going to be pleased on what has been done with the D trail which has been greatly improved thanks to the volunteers and Contractors that made it happen. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have had from volunteers and businesses with tackling the huge task this year of opening trails due to a ice storm th...at has made many trails impassable. This includes Avery Construction who have provided an excavator over the past several weeks to assist with clearing the east trail which is one of our hardest hit trails. While the progress has been slow due to significant damage to the trails, they have cleared almost 30 km of trail so far. With their support and other equipment being mobilized, we will get the remaining D trail open for our riders and upcoming events including Easter Seals Snowarama. Thank you Avery Construction !
