We had our last virtual training night for the holidays last night. Capt Reynolds showed the cadets how to make egg rolls, plum sauce and donair sauce. What a great way to kick off our holiday break!
On Monday, 30 November we held our first virtual CO’s parade of the year. There were many promotions as well, it also marked the last cadet night for our very own WO1 Chloe Reynolds, who retired from her cadet career after 7 years. It was a bittersweet evening, as we would have liked to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments in person, especially the career of WO1 Reynolds. She will be greatly missed, and was a phenomenal asset to our unit. Always leading by example, trying e...verything at least once and doing all should could to not only support the cadets below her, but those that came before her and the staff as well. From all of us here at 865, WO1 Reynolds, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours and can’t wait to hear from you again. Her next steps are that she is working hard to continue her military career by joining the Canadian Armed Forces. Bravo Zulu! *Please note - photos are from parades / events pre -COVID*

Normally this time of year we are getting ready to spend the day at the #truckconvoy for Special Olympics. However, this year we aren’t able to participate. To all of the AMAZING athletes and drivers at this year’s #SpecialOlympics Truck Convoy, we hope you have an amazing day and can’t wait to join you next year!
We are proud to introduce a new Online Registration Tool to make the registration process easier to join cadets! Parents/guardians and prospective cadets can no...w visit our website at www.canada.ca/join-cadets to receive information to help them start the registration process. The tool will gather their contact information as well as the unit they are interested in joining and forward it to the corps/squadrons’ generic mailbox. Corps and squadrons will then be able to contact the parent/guardian to answer any questions and arrange for the completion of the registration process. This is the first release of the new Online Registration Tool. It is the first of many improvements meant to support the current registration process, it does not replace the required documentation or FORTRESS data entry requirements. The Online Registration Tool will continue to evolve to streamline the current registration process.

SURPRISE! We had a Zoom meeting to thank WO2 Rainault for all of her hard work over the summer with cadet engagement. She took on this task in her own time, and we couldn’t be more grateful. ... So check out our surprise for her. You will need to enter the password. https://us02web.zoom.us//zNNeP-vvyEBLGLecsxDifowxO4jHeaa81 Password: h9#MKg=&
Typically we would be making posts now about our start date and how we can’t wait to see all of our new and returning cadets. However, date date is still up in the air. As soon as we have one, we will post as soon as possible. So keep your eyes out and keep checking back with us!... We can’t wait to see you and have you join us!
This may be of interest to some. Cadet or not.
Christmas in July is a big deal. Found this holiday package in my mailbox today.
It’s Christmas in July week at 865. Pictures to come. This is a big CTC tradition, so the seniors are keeping it alive.
Capt Reynolds was finally able to catch up on the ZOOM meetings. What a perfect night to join in. Kahoot was the name of the game!!
4 hour Zoom call? Yes yes they did!
This year ACR looked a little different. It was virtual this year. Our Commanding officer, Capt Melanie AuCoin did an amazing job. From promotions, and awards to acknowledgement of graduating cadets. ... Being virtual didn’t make it any less emotional. Celebrating the hard work of our cadets, saying Good luck on your next adventures to others, always hits home. The staff as a whole are so incredibly proud of what the cadets of 865 accomplish each and every day. Bravo Zulu to everyone. Have an amazing summer and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
So much truth here.
I’ve been working with the cadet program for almost 10 years now. First as a parent volunteer, then after having my rubber arm twisted (like it was hard to talk me into enrolling), now I’m a Captain. Today should have been our ACR, where the minions would have had the opportunity to show off all of their hard work to their family and friends. Today would have been the last ACR for some that are retiring from the program over the next few months. WO1 Chloe Reynolds bei...ng one of them. I’m saddened that we are all missing out in this amazing celebration due to the way our world is at the moment. But I am so incredibly proud of them all. Having been apart of their village, seeing them grow, learn and challenge themselves each and every week, is an amazing adventure. We will celebrate them right when we get back, but for now, I will reminisce with all the ACR pictures that will soon be filling my news feed. (I absolutely ADORE this picture from 4 years ago- Major Earl Lantz, Brigadier General Rob Delaney, WO2 Darren Barnes and Captain Joe Richards- this was WO2 Barnes’ last ACR as he retired from the program) -Capt Reynolds
Maintaining a little bit of normalcy through these past few months has been important. Keeping cadets engaged and reminding them we are here is also vital. Our Zoom meetings have been a very important part of our cadet year.
Capt Reynolds was a little late, but made it to the weekly Zoom meeting. We are committed to showing up each week!
I think tonight was one of the best Zoom calls we had so far. Lots of laughs to be had!
Welcome home Ma’am, you are relieved, we have the watch. Travel safely down the Highway of Hero’s.
To all of the mothers, grandmothers and special women who have taken on the role, of all of our cadets! It takes a village, and we are so happy you allow us to be a part of yours! You are amazing and rock all day everyday!
Even though you haven’t heard from us for a bit, we are still here. Lots of behind the scenes work going on for staff, challenges for cadets. Tonight we had another weekly video check in. We keep the lines of communication open for the cadets, and they can pop on the video chat if they want for however long they want. We usually have some good laughs! Have a great week.
