Happy Sunday! Looks like a snow melting kind of day out there! Spring is near, but I suspect Winter hasn't finished with us just yet. Now that we are allowed dine in patrons we are switching to all day Sunday Breakfast again from 8am-2pm. This means we will not be serving lunch, but will have some grab and go sandwiches available along with cinnamon rolls, donuts, and our sourdough bread available in rye, whole wheat and white. Come check out our new breakfast menu with reduced prices and more options!

Our deliveries last Sunday went over well, with a few hiccups and we are going to do it again this weekend. We will not be offering bread for delivery on this round, as we feel that Stratford has a couple great bread bakeries who pay for brick and mortar locations there, such as our friends at Downie Street Bakehouse and ...The Butcher and the Baker. I feel it's not very noble to deliver bread under their noses, so we're not doing it. We will be delivering donuts, cinnamon rolls, bagels and pepperettes again this Sunday, the 17th to Stratford, Sebringville and Mitchell. Happy Saturday! I remember watching Peter Reinhart, baker and author, interviewing Anthony Mangieri, owner of Una Pizza Napoletana, on Pizza Quest. Anthony said at one point, something like: You used to be able to open a pizza shop and make horrible pizzas for 6 months and no one would know, everything was word of mouth and people just wouldn't come in very much until they heard your pizza was very good. Now with social media everyone knows everything about your first days th...e moment you open. I made quite a few bad pizzas. This pizza journey of mine has been decades in the making and was mostly bad pizzas if I'm to be honest, not inedible, just not great. When we first opened, and for many months after I rarely turned out a pizza that was what I wanted it to be. I'm happy to say that now that table has turned and I rarely turn out a pizza I'm not happy with. It might not be your favourite pizza, but it's mine. Pizza is so much about personal taste, but I'm very happy with this rustic, neapolitanish, sourdough pizza that I'm making. It's something uniquely me, a pizza you're not likely to find elsewhere, a pizza that many customers tell me is their fave and something they look forward to as a special treat. To celebrate these thoughts, I'm offering all of our individual pizzas (though perfect for sharing too) today at a dollar off the menu price. What a long explanation for such a simple special eh? Our kids are so excited for Halloween. It has been a tough year with all these changes. So that is why we would like to celebrate by getting dressed up in our Halloween costumes. We invite you and your children to come with their costumes on and a mask to receive a free monster cookie on Saturday Oct 31 while they last. Happy Halloween from us at The Sugar Maple.

I burnt some of the midnight oil to make you these! I dug up the recipe online for the most famous Bagel in the world which comes from St. Viateur Bakery in Montreal. They make 10,000 a day!!! Amazingly this Montreal Bagel has no salt in it, just a little maple syrup to round out the flavour. As I sit here eating one with my fresh roasted coffee from To Bean or Not to Bean, I'm thoroughly impressed with the flavour and texture of this bagel. I can't promise I'll make these everyday, so come get them while they last and if you love em as much as our staff does I'll see what I can do about making this an every day thing. $4 with cream cheese.

In the mood for something special and satisfying for lunch today? We've got you covered. Our Cuban with roasted pork, black forest ham, red onion, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard and swiss cheese on our housemade brioche panini, grilled to crispy perfection is just $10 We had Cubans on the menu when we first opened, but when I was honest with myself we didn't have the right bread to make it shine so I removed it. It took more than 6 months for me to develope this brioche dough we use for our burgers, and when a lovely piece of Perth County pork came my way a couple days ago I realized it was time for El Cubano to make a comeback. I think it's the best Cuban I ever ate, and that makes me happy. :)

People ask me once in a while, "What's your jam?" Well I'm not shy to answer black currant or raspberry, but I'll take any good fruit jam to be honest. ;) An excellent accompaniment to our sourdough bread, we are now selling our jam. We've been aquiring fruit from local farmers Lauri Neubrand and Red Hill Berries as well as our own plots and have been busy making an assortment to sell over the last few weeks. Come and get it!

Thanksgiving weekend is here! While Kim is busy in the Kitchen tonight serving up Turkey and Ham dinners tonight I'm planning our Saturday. We will have dine in and takeout breakfast from 8am til 11:30 am then lunch from 11:30am til 3pm and then...we will have takeout pizza from 5pm until 9pm! Don't forget we have fresh baked sourdough bread, donuts... rumour has it Buttermilk Bonnie is planning a Reeses Pieces Donut tomorrow!!! Cinnamon rolls too with all proceeds going to ...the Charge Foundation, more on this later, squares, deli salads and more! Lunch Specials: Soup of the Day: House Made Cream of Tomato with San Marzano Tomatoes. Lunch Special: Mac Daddy Burger and fries. EDIT: well, these sold out out in a hot minute, and me thinking I made enough puffs for 2 days. My grandmother would make cream puffs with real whipped cream and homemade chocolate sauce. The news would travel fast, and we'd line up with our plates. She's been gone for many years now, but was cooking until the last week of her life, and died at 97. Thinking of you today, and putting these on our menu in your honour. Goodie's Cream Puffs. $5.... He had this syndrome. He loved his community and he loved cinnamon buns.
