The newest addition to our trail system is officially "open". The "Alderwood Trail" has a more "rustic" flavour, and perhaps more wild feeling. It is 1.16 km lo...ng, starting adjacent to the White Pine trail, and exiting on the Woodland trail, not far from the junction of the Warbler. Although there are some sections of boardwalk, waterproof footwear is recommended, especially this time of year. Big thanks to Claude Chiasson, a long-time volunteer, for putting the sign up, as well as all the volunteers and staff who created the trail!Le plus récent ajout à notre réseau de sentiers est officiellement ouvert. Le sentier "l'aulnière" a une saveur plus "rustique", et peut-être un sentiment plus sauvage. Il est 1,16 km de long, partant à côté du sentier de pin blanc et sortant sur le sentier boisé, non loin de la jonction de la Paruline. Bien qu'il y ait certaines sections de la promenade, des chaussures imperméables sont recommandées, surtout à cette période de l'année. *** MESSAGE FRANÇAIS AU BAS *** COMPANION ANIMALS ON CITY GREEN TRAILS As there have been a number of reports of dogs let loose by their owners in the Bathurst ...Watershed Area green trails, the City of Bathurst takes this opportunity to remind users of the City’s Green Trails, who are also dog owners, of the following provisions in By-Law NO. 2012-04 regulating the keeping and controlling of companion animals in the City of Bathurst: 6 A OWNERS RESPONSIBILITIES (1) If a dog or cat defecates on any public or private property other than the property of its owner, the owner shall cause such feces to be removed immediately or shall be guilty of an offence under this by-law. (4) No owner shall suffer, permit, allow, or for any other reason have his or her dog running at large, except in designated off-leash areas. Any person who violates any provision of By-Law NO. 2012-04 is guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to fines ranging from $100 to $300. Citizens are invited to consult the By-Law NO. 2012-04 document at the link below: https://www.bathurst.ca/en/secure_document/10/bylaw/file The City of Bathurst appreciates the collaboration of pet owners who take advantage of City trails for wellness activities, with their dogs on leash, while respecting other trail users. -------------------- ANIMAUX DE COMPAGNIE SUR LES SENTIERS VERTS DE LA VILLE Alors qu’il y a eu de nombreux rapports de chiens qui sont laissés en liberté par leurs propriétaires sur les sentiers verts situés dans le bassin versant de la municipalité, la Ville de Bathurst prend cette occasion afin de rappeler aux utilisateurs des sentiers verts de la Ville, qui sont aussi propriétaires de chiens, des provisions suivantes de l’arrêté municipal NO. 2012-04 régissant la garde et le contrôle des animaux de compagnie dans la Ville de Bathurst : A. RESPONSABILITÉS DU PROPRIÉTAIRE (1) Le propriétaire d’un chien ou d’un chat qui défèque sur une propriété publique ou privée autre que la sienne est tenu d’enlever immédiatement les matières fécales, à défaut de quoi il ou elle sera reconnu(e) coupable d’une infraction à cet arrêté. (4) Le propriétaire d’un animal ne doit en aucun cas permettre de laisser courir librement son chien sans laisse, sauf dans les secteurs désignés expressément à cette fin. Toute personne qui enfreint aux dispositions de l’arrêté municipal NO. 2012-04 est coupable d’une infraction et passible, sur déclaration de culpabilité, à des amendes variant entre 100$ et 300$.
