On February 15th at around 9:15 PM the Medicine Hat Walmart was placed on lock down after the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) received a report of a threat i...nvolving a firearm directed at a specific employee working in the store. The caller made comments about attending the store to confront the employee. As a result the business was secured by MHPS to protect the safety of all employees and customers, both in the store and in the immediate area. The lock down lasted for approximately one hour and once it was deemed safe everyone within the store was escorted off the premise. The MHPS Major Crimes Sections has assumed responsibility of the investigation which is ongoing to uncover the source and validity of the call. See more

Based on current weather data, a decision has been made to extend the cancellation of in-person classes at all Prairie Rose schools for Thursday, February 11th.... As morning temperatures are below -40 with the wind chill, bus travel and walking to school becomes unsafe for students. Learning from home will continue for students in grades 1-12. Teachers have been asked to connect with their students regarding instruction and learning expectations. As the temperature is expected to remain cold this week, weather information will be reviewed daily and parents will be updated accordingly.

Eagle Butte High School is organizing a Santa Claus Fund Angel Tree of Warmth and Hope campaign at our high school from Monday, November 23rd to Thursday, Decem...ber 10th. Any person from our school or community is welcome to participate in this project. Simply: 1. Purchase a pair of socks, mittens, gloves, toque, cozy scarf or a toy. 2. Bring the unwrapped gift to school; students bring the gift to your TAG class or put it on or under the tree; community members, please bring your gift to the front office. 3. Please give ALL gift cards or cash donations to Mrs. McGarry or Mrs. Kelly. Remember that even a small gift can make a lifetime of difference for the giver as well as the recipient. The Medicine Hat College Student Association is putting on an event for people to drop off winter coats sizes newborn to adult in the front foyer of the college. It is on November 28th, 2020 10 am to 4pm All the children coats will be donated to Medicine Hat Pregnancy Support Centre.
