General Manager Andrea Surich to leave Watermark It is with both great appreciation and regret that Watermark Theatre announces the departure of General Manager Andrea Surich. Andrea will be stepping down from her position at Watermark to assume the role of General Manager of Theatre at The Charlottetown Festival at Confederation Centre of the Arts. Effective immediately, Andrea will be sharing her time between the two organizations for the next few months, facilitating a smo...oth transition for both. Andrea joined Artistic Director Robert Tsonos in the leadership of Watermark Theatre in 2015. Since then, the company has experienced exponential growth at the box office, launched a hugely successful Mentorship Program, and placed the theatre on solid footing for years to come, while delivering theatre productions every summer to great critical and audience acclaim. Andrea has had an incredible impact on our company and is a major reason why the theatre is in such great shape, both artistically and financially, explains Robert, her hard work, dedication, and infectious enthusiasm has immeasurably shaped this theatre. We are going to miss her immensely but also wish her well in her new position. Watermark Theatre Board Chair Rodney Payne added, It would be difficult to overstate how important Andrea has been to the Watermark Theatre. Her engagement and commitment over the past five years is greatly appreciated and she will be sorely missed. Watermark Theatre’s Board of Directors, artists, staff, and volunteers extend their deepest gratitude to Andrea for her leadership and service to the company and wish her all the best as she embarks on a new stage of her career. Posting a message from Eastern Front Theatre: EFT’s Micro Digital Creation Project How can theatre exist in a digital world? What is the possible impact of theatre in a digital world? How could digital theatre create positive change to our greater Canadian society? Eastern Front Theatre will commission 20 Atlantic Canadian theatre, and theatre-adjacent, artists of all varieties to create new digital works that bring theatre online. The goal of this project is three-fold:... 1. To envision and adapt the essence of live theatre into a digital experience. 2. To give theatre artists a chance to work and experiment with digital mediums. 3. To put money into the hands of artists during this pandemic. Successful applicants will receive a commission fee of $500. The final product must be in a digital format - any and all digital formats will be accepted! Regardless of format, all work that plays must be no longer than 60 seconds in duration. Projects could be a 30-second MP3 monologue on creating societal change, a PDF of a dream set design for a pandemic production, or a live 60-second performance on IGTV. Surprise us, and yourself! This is a chance to play and create. Dramaturgical and sounding board support will be provided by EFT’s new AD, Kat McCormack. Artists can work solo or in pairs. EFT is happy to foster a buddy system to partner like-minded individual artists from different provinces to work together online. Please indicate in your application if you’d like to chat about this option. The finished projects will be featured online on our website and social media platforms. There is also the potential for relevant projects to be submitted to the National Transformations Project where they may be featured on the National Arts Centre platform. We are committed to allocating at least 50% of these grants to artists from communities that are currently underrepresented in Canadian theatre (including but not limited to IBPOC and Deaf and disabled artists). Applications are due by midnight on Sunday, September 27th. You can apply via our website: easternfronttheatre.com Any questions? Email [email protected] See more
