We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of John Wells. Councillor Amy Martin reported his passing on her page with a touching tribute to the form...er Ward 6 councillor. Here is a photo we took after Amy was elected in 2018. John made his way out of the busy room to see Amy as she stepped outside for an interview. He wanted to take time and congratulated her, telling her how proud he was of her, and expressing how great he thought she would be representing Port Dover. Over the years we had several interactions with John and he always welcomed us with a smile and warmth, even if the story was going to be hard on him or Port Dover. At council meetings, whenever they went for supper, John would sneak back out with a plate of food for us at the reporter’s table - always saving room for extra cookies. He was a friend of the station and will be missed deeply.
