MY EVOLVING VIEW OF VACCINATION. I am rarely impressed by posts from the CBC (Canada’s government-owned and operated news, propaganda and entertainment organization), but this one is an exception. This article, and its three linked Q&A interviews with scientists and medical specialists, offers good information for the educated lay person concerning various aspects of the Covid-19 disease and the two approved vaccines. In the third interview, a doctor confirms tha...t the data is not yet available regarding the safety of these vaccines for certain groups of people including pregnant women and persons with auto-immune diseases but claims that these data should be available soon. The topic of vaccine side effects, such as severe anaphylaxis, is also discussed. While rare, it has occurred in people who are allergic to one identified chemical in the vaccine formulation. This chemical is widely used in many other prescription and non-prescription drugs; most people who are allergic to it will already know and will be flagged. Now that I have a better understanding of how Covid vaccination differs from natural immunity, I am more receptive to taking the vaccine (albeit with my usual level of scrutiny and caution). This article, in combination with another recent article on Long Covid Syndrome which laid out the longer-term risks of getting the COVID19 illness, suggests that there is more risk in getting and recovering from the disease itself (ie getting natural immunity) than the risks associated with the vaccines, especially since I have no known allergies. Furthermore, every vaccinated person adds to the goal of herd immunity which is in-and-of-itself a highly desired outcome to end lockdowns. I wanted explain the evolution of my thinking on the vaccine. Previously, I have expressed my reluctance to it and favoured getting Ivermectin ASAP if I ever tested PCR positive while possessing disease symptoms. My views are changing as better information becomes available.
