Happy National Flag of Canada Day! On February 15, 1965, our national flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill. In 1996, February 15 was dec...lared National Flag of Canada Day and has been observed every year since. During these challenging times, we continue to see Canadians come together. Today, let’s celebrate the symbol that brings us together! Share your pride by posting a photo or video of yourself with the #CanadianFlag! #FlagDay ( is pre-COVID)

UPDATE #2 -- Re-save the dates! With Ontario's recent announcement that spring break will now be held the week of April 12-16, our plans for the Cadet Activity... Program (CAP) will be aligned accordingly. The "Cruise-into-Spring" CAP Challenge still promises to be a fun and exciting week. Given the date change, we will review availability and feasibility of locations and facilities (for possible in-person trials) and previously selected activities, guest speakers and daily schedules. We recognize the evolving COVID-19 environment, including the risk of new variants, and all CAP activities -- whether virtual or limited in-person -- will be conducted in accordance with Gov't of Canada, provincial and regional/local health authority direction and protocols.

A few weekends ago, British artist Jamie, accompanied by numerous volunteers, took to the beaches of Normandy with rakes and stencils in hand to etch 9,000 silhouettes representing fallen people into the sand. Titled The Fallen 9000, the piece is meant as a stark visual reminder of those who died during the D-Day beach landings at Arromanches on June 6th, 1944 during WW

99 Lynx, Royal Canadian Air Cadets are taking care of the wreaths that couldn't be laid at the Cenotaph in Orillia.

For 31 years the Royal Canadian Air Cadets 99 Lynx Squadron has stood Vigil at the Orillia Cenotaph from 6pm 10 Nov until the completion of the Remembrance Services. Orillia was the first Squadron to do this and more have followed in recent years. Unfortunately, this year due to Covid-19 this could not be done; HOWEVER, I am so proud to say the Cadets and Officers of 99 Lynx Squadron have adapted. This small memorial was placed at the Cenotaph by the Commanding Officer, and rather than standing guard at the Cenotaph, cadets took shifts throughout the night at their homes in private memorials. It warms my heart to see this respect given by our youth.
