I made another fine motor activity to try. This one is good for practicing doing up buttons and it is also pretty cute! You could make it using any animal.

A fun little fine motor activity to try. All you need is a pool noodle and elastic bands! Good eye hand co-ordination too.

It has been a busy few weeks! Just wanted to give you all an update on some of the activities happening at A Bridge to Potential. The first one is popsicle sticks and magnets. Add paperclips to match number on the bottom. Good for counting and fine motor. The second activity is Soap Foam, 1/2 cup warm water, 2 tbsp dish soap, 2 tbsp corn starch and a few drops of food colouring. Mix with a hand mixer until frothy. Add underwater creatures for some fun! Great sensory activity (I enjoyed it too!)

We made Slime tonight. Fun little project and a great sensory experience. Recipe : 1 4oz bottle of glue, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 2 drops of essential oil (optional) and food colouring. Mix. Add a squirt of contact lens solution and stir until it forms into a ball and comes off side of bowl. Add more solution if needed. Add glitter or small gems if desired. Have fun!

It was an evening of creativity and building. Simple materials-paper towel rolls, straws, hole punch and some tape. Lots of fun!

I am reading a book called 'Fall Down 7 Times Get Up 8' by Naoki Higashida. He also wrote a book called 'The Reason I Jump'. Naoki has autism and writes his books from his perspective. He has some great advice throughout both. I want to share a little excerpt from one to encourage parents and caregivers of those with autism. "Yes, raising a child with autism can be highly demanding, but please remember, just as you worry about your child, so your child worries about you. ... Laugh together and share your stories. You won't be revisiting these years. Value them." Fall Down 7 Times Get Up 8 by Naoki Higashida I highly recommend these books. Let me know if you would like to borrow them! Very inspiring

More team building today! I made simple puzzles and they worked together to put them in place. Good communication, team work and problem solving! These kids rock!

It was so good to have my crew back today! They did this great team building activity with ease. There was a leader and they had to stay together with linked arms to follow the direction of the rope. They each had a turn being the leader and talked through the movements. It was fun to watch as they worked together.
