This adorable young lady is Kimber. She’s a Pitbull mix looking for a new home. Kimber is great with dogs, crate trained and potty trained. She’s a high energy gal who needs a good amount of daily exercise and will need someone who can teach her some manners. She will be available through PB&CHI rescue. Located in Chilliwack.

This little Pitbull mix is Lola. Her hoomans called me for help with leash reactivity. Lola was born on the streets of Mexico and she didn’t make it to her forever home here in Canada until her critical socialization period was already over. As a result she has no concept of how to be in close proximity to a dog while on leash without being over aroused and stressed. She lunges, barks etc and causes her hoomans to feel embarrassed and stressed along with a sore shoulder from ...trying to manage her outbursts. We began our session discussing how to mark behaviour we like and always following your mark with a HIGH value food reward. We want to teach her that seeing another dog = food not stress. Once we had her understanding that in the house we switched her collar from the basic flat collar to a head halti and headed out to practice with my dogs. She struggled at first until we swapped out their treats for some yummy cheese and it was a game changer! We did several passes with Stanley, some proper nose to bum introductions and parallel walking to finish. Just making those changes mom said it’s the calmest she’s ever been that close to another dog! This is where Scarlet was rescued from!

This one year old female Pitbull named Luna is looking for a new home. Her and her sister were surrendered as a result of fights between the sisters. Unfortunately their owners got two females from the same litter and they didn’t spay them which resulted in a bad case of littermate syndrome which VERY common when you adopt two puppies from the same litter and it was amplified by not spaying them. Luna definitely has some ptsd from her dangerous living situation and can not be placed in a home with another female dog. If this is something you think you can manage please reach out to PB&CHI rescue to fill out an application. She’s very cute and sweet, but will need time and positive dog interactions to overcome her fear. She would do best in a home as the only dog, or with a docile neutered male. #rescuedog

This four and a half month old Labrador puppy is Dylan. Her family contacted me because they said she had been a good puppy until recently. She’s now testing boundaries, acting wild in the house and ignoring them when they ask her to do something. We started our session talking about management. So using her crate, a tether, and high value bones etc while using these management tools. Puppies are similar to babies in that they need regular scheduled nap times or they can get ...over stimulated or over tired and then they make bad decisions like biting and jumping etc. Mom admits she tends to give in when the puppy ignores her so we went over how to use food and positive techniques to get what you want, and to help teach Dylan to actually want to make better decisions because she knows there’s something in it for her. We also added in more obedience games in the house like re-call, sit, down, stay etc to engage her brain and to build a good positive experience when training with her humans. These things should always begin in the house before you can expect your puppy to do them out in the world with all the distractions. Today we had our second session with Indy. We are working on her fear reactivity towards both dogs and humans. Unfortunately she’s been attacked while on leash a few times. Two of which were by Australian Shepherds. Random, I know. On our first session we used Stanley and Scarlet in a busy park where we did proper introductions and passed by several dogs. We also found a treat for her that was extremely high value and that helped her human redirect/distract her and reward her... when passing other dogs. Today we started off using Stan and Scarlet again, but then switched to an Australian Shepherd since that seems to be her biggest trigger. We began by introducing the Aussie into the mix with Stanley and Scarlet as she already has a positive association with them and when we felt she was ready we put Stan and Scar back in the truck and walked with just Indy and the Aussie. Happy to report there were no incidents at all, and all dogs had loads of great, positive reinforcement. See more

This handsome fella is Capone. His parents contacted me because he has had some close calls with people who come onto his property or into the home. He has ripped clothing and put his teeth on humans as a warning so his parents realized they need help to change his behaviour before something bad happens. What we realized is that this behaviour comes from a place of fear and insecurity so we discussed how to manage interactions so he doesn’t feel threatened. No eye contact, si...deways body language and tossing high value treats his way will help him start to associate visitors with something positive for him. Having a slip lead on hand, and treat bowls at the doors will help redirect him away from the front position at the door and back into a better position as people enter the home. And lastly we worked on his recall as it’s very hit and miss so we discussed always making this a positive exercise for him. Also releasing him back to what he was doing will help teach him that come doesn’t mean his playtime or outside time is over, it simply means he gets a reward and can go back to what he was doing. She may look middle aged with her grey muzzle, but shes actually only 1 year old! Shes a distinguished, dainty young lady that doesnt put up with s**t from any of the other dogs in the house. She definitely wears the pants in the pack!

This lovely lady is Luna. Her mix is Lab/Golden retriever/Malamute. Shes got the energy of all three breeds, the temperament of the retrievers and the size from the Malamute. Such a cool combo.

Introducing our newest fosters to Stanley.These two were strays in Texas and trapped by animal control. They were saved by a B.C. rescue and will be crashin here until they find their forever homes. They are great friends and as a result we are on pregnancy watch. Ill know in a few weeks if that belly is growing. Who remembers Tahiti? She was one of our fosters last year. She had never been indoors, had no idea what a car ride was, she was so skinny and dirty and lost. Now look at her, strong, happy and loved! #fosteringsaveslives

Thought Id check out if mini legs likes hiking. He loved all the things to pee on and had a great time! And although hes reactive towards big dogs, he made great strides with Stanley following him around and sticking close to him with no issues!

Its with great sadness that I share Forrest passed away peacefully on Monday surrounded by love and support. He was 11, had advanced kidney disease and things turned a corner quickly and everything happened so fast. Please send love and good vibes up to him RIP Forrest Gump

Grumpy vs playful

Hope wasnt ready to play when she first got here. She was understandably a little defensive and unsure. She was picked up as a stray so that tells me she would have had to be defensive while roaming because theres SO MANY stray dog in Texas.
