Rob's Arm 04.08.2021

Progress. After many years, the second of three protruding bones on the three middle fingers of my left hand auto-amputated itself today just as the last one did. It's been coming for a long time and not only does the finger look better, but it also makes little lady handling that much easier.

So once in a long while, I have the opportunity to have the nails on my left hand cleaned up. Back in the day, when my hand was decaying, the ends of the three middle fingers essentially fell off. Since then nails try to grow and gunk builds up. Eventually we do a clean up to clear that all away so that I have just nice clean exposed bones and a nub where the rest of the finger should be, until the next clean up is required. The last clean up was in early 2011. The most recent one started yesterday and will continue through out the month. Ever seen in the movies or TV when they tear someone's fingernails off? It's like that. Good times not so much, needs to be done though.

The end of 2008 was the calm before the storm. The end of 2009 was a middle finger raised high to the year that was. The end of 2010 saw the need to find something more. Now the end of 2011 brings us to the end of the greatest year of our lives with some many adventures to come in the year ahead. Throughout it all, the wound on my arm over those 1000 days grows ever smaller and knows that it's days are numbered, there isn't room for it anymore. Happy new year 2012 to all and all the potential that lies ahead.

A while since my last arm update, my apologies. Here we are in December already and the year has passed by. I did not unfortunately win the notable award, but final four is quite a good placement. The arm continues to be itself, slow and patient, but forever moving forward. The area that remains to be healed is no larger than my thumbnail and only just a scratch on the surface. I've began to play around with different bandaging ideas as I realized that part of the reason... for the slow pace in healing was friction being caused on the site of the remaining wound. I would say that it would be nice to finish one book before writing another, with little one soon to arrive, but even if that does not occur, I am patient. Certainly though when it does, I will know that patience was the key to it all. The fingers are less than pretty, but as I was told, little one won't know the difference either way. I'm going to be practicing with a sugar bag and we are exploring ideas for a protective glove to protect the protruding bones. I should probably also start with diaper practice soon. Exciting times! Please take a moment to support this family as they move forward in their new way of life. Many people with disabilities cannot attain appropriate insurance or benefits that help in tragedies like this. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

It is with very heavy hearts and deep sadness that we have to inform you that Robert Pearson passed away suddenly this morning. We invite you to share memories on his page or send a wish to Shannon and family. We would like to collect your thoughts, words, wishes and memories (videos too) so that we may pass these on to family; especially his daughter Emma and son Max. They need to know what a wonderful man their father is. He's our hero, and in that showed all that 'impossible is nothing'. Love you Rob.
