Some might be interested in this... And some thought provokers follow...?...amidst some speculation admittedly...and some concerns about the sub-themes in this ...otherwise excellent article. Is persistent pain a disease or does calling it a disease just facilitate funding for drug research? Or put another way if we think of persistent pain as overapplied protection i.e. a protective system working too well (as opposed to a disease) should we choose drug therapy to tackle the immune component or might we choose more lifestyle/psychological/social approaches? Or if overapplied protection is primed by prior adverse life events or concurrent stressors, do we need drug therapy for that? Go for it hippies and hipsters and hip replacees :-)
