Hello Everyone how are you all doing? Just thought I would give a little update on our status. We are still working as it is just my wife and I so we don't have to worry about what an employee did on the weekend. Also not many people come up on the roof with us, lol. I am a handshake type of guy so it does feel a bit cold to not greet my customers with a handshake. Please know I am not shaking hands out of disrepespect but more out of respect at this time. We are doing the... social distancing even though many people seem to want to get closer to me. I just casually walk backwards. We are fortunate that I have a good supply and our son works at the supplier so he can bring me home what I need. We are avoiding construction sites as those always have more people. Homeowners are perfect because it is just Kathie and I outside. Please stay well and do your best under these trying times. I thank you all for your great support of our company. We are small and 100% family run. We take a huge amount of pride in doing the best job for you. Because we are small we have better quality control BUT that does mean are wait times can be longer at certain times of the year. As a few people have commented. Hello everyone. I learned something new and Very important this week. A customer of mine from 2009 sent me pictures of his gutter and was a bit upset that his gutters were virtually being eaten away. I have never seen this before. I contacted my supplier and they said they have seen it 3 times in a 25 year period and it was a chemical reaction to something that was put on the roof to probably kill moss. I asked the customer if he had done anything like that and he said "no". ...I told him I would see what I can do. The next day he texted me to apologize because he remembered cleaning some skylights with water and ammonia. He googled it and apparently ammonia and aluminum do not react well together and this was the result. So this is a wake up call to myself and to you to actually be careful what you put on your roof to kill moss or clean skylights. I had no idea. Hello friends and supporters of my business. I want you to know i was presented with an opportunity to work for a large american company this week and the pay was significant. So, what do you think my answer is? I have decided NOT to join them as their company moral values do not fit my moral values. There whole thing is to sell you a very expensive gutter system and then negotiate a few thousand off the price, so you feel better. I am sorry but that does not sit well wit...h me. Whenever a salesman comes to your door and then a regional manager and then a subcontractor and then....YOU realize ALL those people are being paid by YOU the customer. At Aarsen gutters we are a small family business. My wife or myself will come by (at your request) and measure up your house. We will then email you quote with usually 4 different options and prices. Kind of a good, better, best scenario. We wont even follow up with to see if you had a chance to look at your quote. We are not hard sales people. Just simple honest people who want to do the best job we can for you. We dont care what option you choose. Sometimes we will highly recommend a certain option and if we do that we always explain why. Very rarely we will suggest the most expensive option. Most times we suggest the middle options. But it is entirely your choice. I was disgusted by what I heard about sales tactics because even though you may not choose Aarsen gutters to do your work, I still care that you are not getting snowballed. There is a disadvantage to hiring a small company like ours. That is we can only do so many jobs in a certain time frame so you may wait longer. But as 1 customer commented, we were well worth the wait. An advantage to a big company is they will offer financing. Well if you are ok with paying thousands and thousands more just to get financing, then you are throwing away money. Lastly if any company can knock $2000 off their quote, you have to ask yourself "how much are they making" because believe me they are still making a profit. By the way all of our customers pay the same rate per foot. Everyone is treated equal. Thank you for reading and please share with people you know.
