Circulator peeps, I have a question re: credit card "card not present" transactions. This article focuses on charities, but the situation is (I think) the same for subscriptions -- if you're processing a credit card payment on a deposit machine (e.g. Moneris), this says you're supposed to request the CVV (CSC) number from the back of the card for online transactions (and, I think, on telephone transactions) but you are NOT supposed to request the CVV number on printed forms.... In which case, you have to contact each subscriber (or donor) to request the CVV number so you can process the transaction. This may differ depending between credit card processing providers (e.g. Moneris seems to be a problem in this regard). Does anyone know what the solution is? Who's gonna complain if you start asking for the CVV number on printed order forms, even if they say you should not be doing so.
