HAPPY NEW YEAR! Dear Abanico Family, As this year comes to an end, we hold each and every one of you close to our hearts. You, dear students, friends, spouses, supporters, vendors, fellow instructors and industry professionals.... This year has given us a chance to see ourselves from a different perspective. We got a chance to ask ourselves what we are grateful for and what really makes us happy. We learned to appreciate the big and small things we took for granted. We questioned ourselves about why we do what we do, why we work, play and dance. Why we keep hobbies, goals, friends and mentors and what is worth keeping and fighting for. Your courage united us, your resilience inspired us and your love fueled us these past hard months. Like you, we’ve worked harder, climbed higher and dug deeper than ever before for patience, strength and creativity. No one could have predicted what was to happen but you didn’t let it slow you down, stop you or paralyze you. Instead, you adapted, pivoted and stepped up, never letting your soul retreat. We have come to recognize our inner light in the darkest times and have become more introspective and accepting, less demanding and more nurturing of our happy moments. We learned that no matter what the outside forces say, do or legislate they do not rule our minds and hearts. We are still standing, we will continue to smile, play and dance in our houses, offices and parks. We will continue to rise to the challenges that come up because we know how much it really matters to us. The permeating joy, pouring sweat and identifiable victory smile in every dancer is worth keeping and it matters. Dance is and will be our chosen venue of happiness, balance and triumph. Let’s continue to dig deeper, dream bigger and together dance harder in 2021. We dedicate this little montage of those times of Abanico laughter and silly fun we’ve shared this year.
