Our Children’s Grief Support Programs have been running and busy. We have adjusted to adhere to the health guidelines but we are grateful that we are able to offer the support to the children who are grieving in our community. When we asked the kids what was most helpful about our programs some of their answers were: Talking to kids closer to my age Making the frame helped me remember my Grandpa Talking about your feelings... Seeing myself and how much I’ve changed. Also, being able to see that I am not alone That I could share with people who went through the same things Being able to speak with others who understand what you’ve gone through . . . #abbyhospice #goodgrief #hospicecare #hospice #griefsupport #palliativecare #abbotsford #abbycares #abbotsfordbc #abbotsfordevents #grieving #grief #griefsupport #remembering#griefjourney #childrensgrief See more

If you’ve lost someone you love the new year can bring expectations of moving on and being less sad. The idea of starting over in a new year can seem overwhelming. Be gentle with yourself. This article by Claire Bidwell Smith gives good guidance of how to handle grieving in the new year. https://clairebidwellsmith.com/grief-new-year/ . . .... #abbyhospice #goodgrief #hospicecare #hospice #griefsupport #palliativecare #abbotsford #abbycares #abbotsfordbc #abbotsfordevents #grieving #grief #griefsupport #remembering#griefjourney See more

Those who are bereaved during the holidays must endure the pain of their loss while the world around them celebrates. How do you say Happy New Year to someone who lost a loved one in recent times? Here are some examples of what you might say to someone who’s grieving the loss of a loved one as we welcome a new year: I know you’re grieving and it’s hard for you right now, but I want to wish you a better year to come. You’re in my thoughts as we ring in the new year. You’re ...not alone. May this new year bring you comfort and peace. Many blessings to you this New Year. I know it’s difficult for you right now. I’ll light a candle for you and your loved one when ringing in the New Year. Starting the New Year without your loved one must be difficult. My thoughts are with you. I know it’s been a rough year for you. May this New Year bring you some respite from your pain. I know it’ll be a rough year ahead. I’m here for you whenever you need anything. May the New Year bring love and light to heal your grieving heart. I’m sorry for your loss. May this New Year offer you peace and shelter from your grief. . . . . #abbyhospice #goodgrief #hospicecare #hospice #griefsupport #palliativecare #abbotsford #abbycares #abbotsfordbc #abbotsfordevents #grieving #grief #griefsupport #remembering#griefjourney

Children’s Grief Awareness Day is designed to help us all become more aware of the needs of grieving children. The benefits they receive through the support of others are something that we understand at Abbotsford Hospice Society. Our programs are designed for various age groups to meet them where they are in their grief. We are here to make sure grieving children receive the support they need. Please consider sharing this post to reach someone who may need to see this today.... . . . . #abbyhospice #goodgrief #hospicecare #hospice #griefsupport #palliativecare #abbotsford #abbycares See more

Don’t shy away from a conversation because you don’t know what to say. Don’t worry about ‘reminding’ a mother about her loss. She hasn’t forgotten. She’s simply hidden her child from polite conversation. Start with I’m so sorry for your loss. Mothers want to speak of their children - no matter the age they were when they died. She still had expectations and dreams for her child. If you’re unsure how to ask, try Can I ask you more? Though you may never learn how much it he...lps, your effort matters. . . . . #abbyhospice #goodgrief #hospicecare #hospice #griefsupport #palliativecare #abbotsford #abbycares See more
