Reading Untamed by Glennon Doyle and this quote is really speaking to me. Glennon Doyle speaks about sitting in the pain and listening to it, from there you will get your answers. "Be still and know." It is not easy to be still and listen to our pain. It's why we max out our schedules, distract with electronics, drink, etc - to avoid feeling the pain. But to avoid the discomfort is to avoid life. In therapy we have many sayings: - lean into the uncomfortable - you have to fe...el it to heal it I encourage you to truly live by starting to be still and listen, no matter how uncomfortable it is.

My assistant for the work day today. He's putting a smile on everyone's face. He definitely demands some attention from everyone coming in but it's nice to see how he can be so soothing to clients. Animals are great therapy! They require us to be mindful. They are a positive distraction. They are calming.... They give us purpose. They give unconditional love. And so much more... See more

This is really resonating with me today. Often I have clients talk about the "what if...". Often clients will express fear that they will relapse into previous unhealthy behaviors. I speak with my clients that whatever "if" is they can handle it. They will survive it. They might need support during it, it's not going to be easy, but at the end of the day they need to believe in themselves that they can get through it. Today I needed this reminder for myself. I hope this touches whoever needs it today

Love this! This includes your own negative and critical voice. Challenge those gremlins in your head and make room for the positive and compassionate!

I seriously love my office. This space brings me so much joy and comfort. I love to sit on the couch and unwind on my break with a good book and a calming view. This helps ground me in between sessions and be more mindful. Where's your safe space? What space brings you joy and comfort? How do you ground yourself to be more mindful?
