It's a new week, the sun is shining, and our Monday morning crew is busy building hampers! If you would like to donate but are not sure what to bring, some of the items we need right now are canned/shelf sustainable fruit, rice, canned meats, and pasta sauce. Thank you for your support!

We have some exciting thank-you's to share today! Photos 1 & 2 We want to say a huge thank you to the members of the Nirbhau Foundation (a group of university students with a heart for helping others), for donating a large amount of food to both the Food Bank and our newest satellite location, Seva Food Pantry. Some of the items they donated included 26 bags of atta, 22 tea boxes, 20 bottles of cooking oils, as well as many cases of pasta sauce, peanut butter, noodles, be...ans and much more! We are extremely grateful for their support! Photo 3 Thank you to Mountainview Harley-Davidson for dropping off this large food donation on Christmas Eve! Since coming back from the holiday break, we have been so grateful to be able to use this food in our hampers! Photo 4 Exciting update! Back in May, Yvonne, Sharra, and Kalisa, (a mother-daughters trio) raised $1350 for us by making and selling face masks. Since May, they have raised another $888 for a grand total of $2238 raised and donated! We are so thankful for their hard work and generosity!

The results for the Christmas Bureau are in! More important than all the numbers, there were meaningful relationships being made. Together we facilitated the connecting points that made Christmas a reality for so many in our community. There are many reasons to access food through the food bank. This is a friendly reminder that we are here for you if you need us. We are open for distribution on Mondays through Thursdays. We serve families and seniors in the mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, and singles and couples in the afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. We please ask that you bring a piece of ID to show you are a resident of Abbotsford. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 604-859-5749.

Abby Toys for Tots Drive Thru is only 10 days away! Travis is a grade 9 student at Abbotsford Christian School. This past year while we were all staying home due to COVID-19, Travis was looking for projects to keep himself busy. He used his 3D printer to design and create "Covid Keys", which allow people to open doors and push buttons without having to touch them. Travis has volunteered at our warehouse in the past, and decided to sell the Covid Keys to raise money to donate to us! He raised a total of $150! We were blown away by his creativity and generosity! Today we recognize Orange Shirt Day in honour and memory of residential school survivors and their families and in the spirit of truth and reconciliation. Every child matters.

This is Scott, one of our amazing Fresh Food Recovery volunteers! These gray totes are full of fresh food that Scott weighs before our other volunteers sort it. Did you know that we sort through over 40,000 lbs of fresh food every month?

Every morning our drivers unload the trucks and roll in pallets of fresh food for our volunteers to sort, through our Fresh Food Recovery Program. It's a lot of work, but we love being able to offer fresh options to our guests!

Good morning from our Thursday Fresh Food Recovery crew! These amazing volunteers arrive bright and early to make sure fresh food is ready for guests when our doors open at 9:30 am. We are so thankful for them!

Christmas is here at the food bank, and we received our first toy donation of the season! We had a special visit from "Willy the Grinch" who delivered 24 toys to us all the way from Vancouver! Thank you Willy! While Christmas is on your mind, make sure you save the date for our 8th Annual Toys for Tots Drivethru event on Friday, November 27th from 7:00 am to 10:00 am! More details to come!
