This week we delved into learning to make patterns and organic shapes. Here the students are challenged to draw with pen which means no erasing. This exercise helps them to relax and mindfully make each line as they create a unique pattern. To do this required the artists to slow down in their line making, relax the tension in their fingers and allow themselves to enter the flow as they trust the creativity they instinctually possess. They did amazing!
All dressed up for art class on Tuesday, the Gr 1-3 worked on sketching silly monsters while practicing their contour sketching and cartooning skills. Grades 4-8 showed their skills at shading and gradation as they used their imagination to create some chi bi inspired monster sketches.
It was a busy art club week as everyone picked and tested their colour choices before finishing up their watercolour leaf sketches from last week. I know I've said it before but these artists are so talented and have a great eye for detail. I love Tuesday and Wednesday at Art Club!
Fall leaves, graphite and watercolour--our art project was nature inspired as students studied the intricate leaf patterns for their sketches before we apply colour next week.
Fall 2017 Art Club Watercolour Week--Welcome to Art Club. These last weeks we've had fun cartooning and working with watercolour. Students had a blast experimenting with watercolour and learning how to use this medium to create different effects. I'm really looking forward to all the wonderful art pieces this session--These artist are amazing! I shall try to keep up with getting some pictures up each week so you can see their work in progress. But be patient with me as I often will be so caught up in the moment that I forget to capture the pictures. :-P
