We are in love with this uniform for Royalty and Monarchy

Alberta Cheer Empire 07.02.2021

With the unclear direction from our Provincial Government yesterday, we find it necessary to take our stance to social media. Our industry, along with all sport... and fitness recreation is being left in the dark on what our reopening will look like or even when that may be. Our youth athletes are suffering- both mentally and physically. Our coaches are suffering - both mentally and physically. We need a clear direction. Write your MLA, write Jason Kenney, write anyone who is willing to stand up and speak out! #SaveOurSports #letthemplay #letthemcheer

Our kids need to get back to organized sports! Jason Kenney I ask you let me show you how we can do it safely.

Such a lovely gift from one of our families

Alberta Cheer Empire 19.12.2020

We have been LOVING the 1-on-1 time with all our Prep and All Star athletes. We might be restricted on group training, but we are have found happiness, joy and progress in yet another format of learning this year. COVID-19 won’t last forever and when we get back to regular training we can look back and say we gave it everything we had no matter what was thrown our way.

Alberta Cheer Empire 05.12.2020

TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK And what an incredible team we have!!! Thank you to our staff for your extra time and energy, our parents for getting us info and driving to the gym for one-on-ones, and our athletes for shifting gears once again. We love seeing those smiles, hearing those laughs and being a part of this coronacoaster with you!!

Sending virtual hugs across the country

Alberta Cheer Empire 05.11.2020

Today many of our social media memories remind us of how much has changed in the past 8+ months. Limelight 2019 pictures bring back such fond memories signifying hard work and a passion for our sport. As much as it is sad that we are not in that same place this year on this date, it is also a great motivator to stay the course. We have not come this far through the pandemic to only come this far. Our athletes and coaches have already proven how resilient they can be. This is just another bend in the road that we will get through. We don’t know when we will get to perform in front of a crowd again, but when it happens, you better believe it will be a celebration like no other.

Dear ACE Families, We have received updated information from AHS and the Alberta Cheerleading Association regarding an amendment to the targeted measures announced by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services on November 12, 2020. The full email provided to us has been shared to the ACA Facebook Page as well as team Band pages. We will be sending out in an email later today. Effective, November 17th, all classes and teams in the enhanced measures area are required... to pause in person training until November 27th, 2020. Programming will be moving to virtual training while we are on pause. For the safety of our athletes, their families and staff we are fully committed to following all of the information provided by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Cheerleading Association. We are currently in the process of sending emails to our Rec Classes, Tumbling Classes, Private Lesson Athletes and Team Participants. We thank everyone for their understanding, patience and support as we get organized.

We have received clarification that classes may continue to run for individualized training if athletes are socially distanced and no stunting occurs. If this s...tatement must change due to AHS updates or if there are new AHS updates, we will post on Facebook. Please note that at this time, the ACA is not putting additional measures in place outside of AHS’ requirements and guidelines. We are seeking answers for those who submitted questions and will post on Facebook once the answers are received.

Alberta Cheer Empire 10.10.2020

Hello ACE families, The Alberta Cheerleading Association has received clarification that training may continue to run for individualized skills if athletes are socially distanced and no stunting occurs. If this changes with any more updates and clarifications, we will let you know. What this means for us at the moment:... -no change for private lessons -no change for tumbling training -no change for flyer training The above three have been running physically distanced and are individual skills -Rec Classes format will change to be physically distanced. No stunting or contact will occur between participants or coaches. Individual skills will be the focus. No change in times. -Prep Teams and All-Star Teams we will be looking at dividing practice times to be sure we have more than adequate distancing space and lower coach to athlete ratio. Training will be individual skills with no contact between participants or coaches. Information will be sent in the upcoming day once I nail down a schedule. The objective is to keep athletes in the gym safely, progressing skills and mental health as a priority. We will continue to follow all the COVID-19 protocols currently in place (screening, sanitizing, masks, etc), with the following additions for the two-week period: -no spotting from coaches -participants will wear masks at all times Sincerely, Kim Fiissel Director Alberta Cheer Empire

Huge SHOUT OUT to our Rec and Prep Families!! It is normally a busy time of year as we welcome all our new athletes on their first day. COVID-19 makes it so this process can take a bit longer, yet you all ROCKED IT!!! Everyone was organized with waivers, shoes, COVID screening forms, masks, and was so excited to start. A special set of high five’s goes to all our 4 & 5 year olds. Their parents are required to drop at the door now as the lobby is closed (again due to COVID). Yet these little superstars were the bravest and most confident coming in to their new classes. Thank you parents for preparing them so well. We appreciate everyone’s effort into making the transition go so smooth.

With students headed back to school, now is a good time to learn how to wear a mask. All school staff and students in grades 4-12 must wear masks in shared area...s where physical distancing isn’t possible such as on a bus or in hallways. When activities inside the classroom involves close interactions between students or students and staff, masks should be used. Here’s how to wear a mask: + Make sure your hands are clean wash or sanitize before putting your mask on and after taking it off + When handling the mask, hold it by the ties or loops. Tighten the ties or loops to help reduce gaps + Keep nose, mouth and chin covered at all times; avoid touching your face under the mask + If you’re going to re-wear your mask after taking it off, make sure you keep it in a clean bag. This will help keep it from touching a contaminated surface. Indicate on the bag which side of the mask is the clean side. + Don’t wear a mask that is wet, torn or dirty. + Store cloth masks in a sealed bag or container, to be taken home for washing. Don’t reuse bags used to store dirty masks. + Wash re-usable masks in hot, soapy water. It can be machine-washed with other items using a hot cycle then dried thoroughly. Exemptions will be made for students and staff who are unable to wear a mask due to medical or other needs. Two reusable masks will be provided by government for every student and staff. Additional single-use masks will be available at schools. Some schools may have additional mask use practices beyond what is required by the province. Parents should contact their school for more information about mask use at their school. Learn more: alberta.ca/returntoschool

Two more days to register for All-Star!!! If you are interested in trying All-Star this season, registration is due tomorrow. Practices don’t start until the week of July 6th, but we need a week to get organized. The biggest difference between All-Star and Prep are:... -All-Star starts in July where they practice 1x/week. There is a 3-week break in August, but optional maintenance classes will be available. -Athletes in All-Star have a skills camp in July -All-Star practices move to twice a week starting in September -There is usually 1 travel trip and we have made these smaller trips this year. The travel will only occur if given clearance by the government. -Number of competitions (other than one travel) will be the same as Prep this season. For All-Star, it is recommended that U8 (old Mini) All-Star has a cartwheel, and U12/U17 (old Youth and Junior) have a walkover (or close to it). Everything in the gym is physically distanced right now. We have a full Health and Safety document with the procedures we are following for COVID-19. It can be found here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/n1med//8162509865ee8edd4c564f.pdf Registration takes place on the Portal. No tryout, just sign up for the team in your age range. There is still room in most all Prep Teams. We will be adding a third youth prep team to the south as the other two filled. Once All-Star numbers are in we will be able to determine a workable spot in the schedule. Congratulations to the legendary Annie Pham on being named the Alberta Cheerleading Association‘s all-star coach of the year. Annie has been coaching at our gym for over a decade. She has been a driving force of level seven cheerleading in this province. Her vast experience as an athlete and her significant dedication as a coach have lead to many victories on the competition floor. Most importantly Annie has had a tremendous impact on shaping the lives of so many of the you...th and adult athletes whom she has coached. Annie is most deserving of this award and it speaks volumes towards the years she has contributed to building cheerleading in this province. We are so very proud of you Annie! @_apha

NOW IS THE TIME TO FILL EACH OTHER’S CUPS The past few days we had the opportunity to see many of our athletes, parents and staff. It was amazing (and somewhat emotional) to see everyone as it gave renewed hope for better days ahead. It also really pointed out how empty a lot of our cups are at the moment. We had not seen most everyone in over ten weeks. The emptiness in the athlete’s eyes, loneliness, and the fear of the unknown future were apparent. Not to mention th...e lack of physical activity and it’s toll on the body which is honestly secondary to the greater issue of mental health. Parents are doing everything they can to keep their children’s cups full, but it is hard to pour from an empty cup. Parents are missing connections as well and are exhausted from the multitude of roles they are performing. The candle is burning at both ends. More than ever we need to fill each others cups. Next week, following every single detail of the outdoor recreation protocol we will begin this process. For parents and athletes alike. We are looking forward to giving each other support, strength and a renewed sense of community. We will move, we will smile and we will connect from a distance. Sending everyone hugs

Thank you to everyone who took part in our information sessions this week. As previously stated, we wont be sending a full summary of the meeting as it discussed al lot of what if situations due to COVID-19. We are starting to get more information and move forward with some degree of planning. As information becomes available we will be sharing. I unfortunately woke up to a basement full of water. Today I have a date with a Shop Vac and will probably have a record number of stair climbs with emptying out all our belongings. Please hold all questions about programming and especially the age grid. I appreciate your patience. Kim Fiissel
