Some nice words about a wonderful young man. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Peeler family in these tough times.
ABCO Industries has been afforded the opportunity to work in the alpha testing of an exciting new technology from Rimot in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In a nutshell, the camera takes the subject's temperature and then prompts the user to answer a series of health related screening questions using a foot pedal which limits physical contact with the machine. As a company that screens every employee every morning, this has made check much more reliable and efficient. As Nova Scotia t...akes the next steps into opening for the summer, we at ABCO Industries believe that technologies likes these are the future to keep us all safe and healthy. Bars, Government buildings, malls, salons/barbershops etc etc could certainly take advantage to add that extra layer of security and comfort for patrons. If you have any questions about the unit, feel free to drop a comment or send a message. You can also visit the Rimot website to see what other exciting project they have available. https://www.rimot.io/

The flags at ABCO will remain at half mast as we mourn the beautiful souls that lost their lives this weekend. We pass along our deepest sympathies to all the affected Families and Friends that had their world turned upside down this past weekend. Our brave First Responders have, and will continue to have, long, dangerous, tiring days and for this we thank them. Every person in the Nova Scotia Medical field is giving their all in these times, so let us continue to be mindful... of Social Distancing and the Mental Health of our Friends and Family. We ask that with the situation we find our Community in, with the Covid-19 virus and this past weekend’s tragedy, that we be especially good neighbours to one another. Nova Scotia is and will continue to be resilient in these trying times. Let’s be the friendly, loving, caring and tight knit Community that we are known across the Nation for, and get through this together.
In this time of uncertainty we at ABCO Industries would like to thank everyone that has been following the directives put in place by the Provincial Government and the Chief Medical Officer of Nova Scotia. If we continue to follow the protocols placed upon us, we can mitigate the spread of Covid-19. Last week, our designers and fabricators were able to produce 3 of the masks pictured. These take about 7.5 minutes to cut, clean and assemble. They are easily cleanable as they ...come apart into 3 pieces; the shield, headband and elastic. Our Food Machinery Group Manager apologizes for looking so grumpy in the photos, he is actually quite happy with the way these turned out. Please share as we would love to do our part to support the brave front line healthcare workers that risk their lives every day to keep us safe. Nova Scotia was late to game as it relates to our first positive test, lets set an example and strive to be the first to get the spread under control by keeping our distance from each other, washing our hands and being good neighbours to one another. #StayTheBlazesHome
In light of recent COVID-19 health concerns, the offices of the Lunenburg Board of Trade will be closed until further notice. Our staff will be working remotely... and our office can still be contacted via email at: [email protected] and via telephone at (902) 634 3170 Please note: our Visitor Information Centre and Campground are due to open on May 8th and we do not currently have plans to alter this schedule. However, we recognize that this is a fast changing situation and will endeavor to keep our membership informed of any further changes.
**UPDATED: Please note that new directives are now in place by the province and begin with immediate effect. ALL people returning from outside Canada WILL ...self-isolate for 14-days. There are no exceptions to this. This is for the public and the private sector. I cannot stress this enough. This is for everyone returning to Canada. All schools will remain closed for two weeks after March Break. NSCC is suspending classes from March 23 April 3 to prepare for alternative forms of learning, such as online. Daycares will close beginning Tuesday to allow parents a chance to find alternative care but will remain closed similarly to schools. All March Break camps are now cancelled. All visitation to long-term care facilities has ceased indefinitely. Both Casinos and all VLTs are to shut down at midnight tonight. I will be addressing the community in more detail tomorrow but remember, life goes on. There’s no need to panic buy at the store. The Canadian food supply chain is strong and moving. Yes you can go to a restaurant, who are all now required to set up for social distancing. Yes you can see a movie or go to a pub or craft brewery who again, are required to set up tables and seats for social distancing. You can still shop, especially local and our small business owners have already said they are stepping up cleaning procedures. These measures are all in place for a reason but limiting unnecessary trips in the public is advised. Remember your friends, family and neighbours. Be considerate and compassionate and help flatten the curve.
