Aberfoyle Farmers' Market 09.02.2021

The Aberfoyle Farmers' Market team is moving ahead in a cautiously optimistic fashion for the 2021 season. Although the market will look and feel differently than it has in previous years, we are planning on opening, though the ever-evolving COVID situation will determine ultimately what that will look like. The 2021 application form is now live on our website, and we encourage interested vendors to fill it out as soon as possible in order for us to gauge interest in the coming season. In parallel, we are working with Public Health to establish our COVID protocols and operating procedures. The application can be found on our website at: afma.ca/application

:: COVID-19 UPDATE :: The Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market will not be opening on June 20 as initially planned. Due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not anticipate that the Aberfoyle Farmers Market will be able to open this season. The thought of not having a market this season is heart-wrenching for all of us, but the decision to remain closed has been made with the health & safety of our customers, vendors and organizers at top of mind. ... Initially, we had hoped to defer our opening to June 20, and this plan seemed promising, especially given recent news of the province beginning a staged re-opening. However, at this time and for the foreseeable future, WDG Public Health is only approving e-commerce curbside pick-up models for farmers’ markets in the County. The AFM organizers felt this wasn’t a suitable model, as we strive to put on a market with a strong sense of community it’s a place to gather, have a cup of coffee with friends, linger and enjoy the music. A curbside pick-up model would not allow for any of this. Although we will not be operating this season, we will continue to focus on supporting and promoting the purchase and sale of locally grown produce, farm products, and handmade goods. Keep following along on our social media channels to stay up to date with how you can support our vendors throughout the season. Our vendors’ contact information will also remain accessible on our website, if you wish to reach out to them directly. https://afma.ca/vendors/ Thanks for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to when we can all be back at the market again!

A big hello to all our PUMKIN AND PIG PARTY FANS! This year is a little different with events at the farm all been cancelled for 2020 and rescheduled for 2021....... we have missed seeing everyone. Here is what we have to put forward for those pumpkins to be up-cycled and put to good use this year From November 1st to November 15th we will have PUMPKIN DROP OFF ONLY at the farm at the mail box and farm gate. There is NO farm tours or Farm events for 2020. Our lovely farm animals have definitely missed all the attention especially Dozer the Donkey and Elmo the Pony. We will keep everyone updated with pumpkin eating photos and videos from the farm livestock over the next two weeks. Please make sure all plastic, pins, toothpicks have been removed before drop off. Us farmers always inspect each pumpkin but this helps to ensure the safety of our livestock. Painted pumpkins can also be dropped off and we will put those directly into the compost pile to be returned to the fields in the spring. Straw bales can also be dropped off, the pigs love to throw those around for fun. Thank you for your pumpkin donations ........ 5887 Splint Road Ariss n0b1b0 Top Market Meats
