Remembrance Day is coming quickly - do you have photos or a story about a veteran? we would love to add them to the album. I especially like the wording on this poster "New names in Canadian history - more are coming". Let's make sure that the names and memories of all inidigenous veterans are remembered.

1980 Constitution Express - two trainloads of people travelled from Vancouver to Ottawa (with people joining along the way) to bring attention of the public and government. Check out the ubcic webpage for details. If you have memories to share, please add your comments. These three people have not been identified.

Scrivener: software for family history : this is an amazing software for writers; takes a bit of time to learn, but well worth the effort. Lots of help available. Free 30 day trial, and then a paid subscription. You can add photos, keep a 'research diary' and organize in a number of different ways. Transfer all your Word documents and stories; you can also save directly to Dropbox, so will never again lose your written memories.

Here is the most recent news from the Pemberton and District Museum and Archives Society for 09/05/2020 Flyback Fridays - Mt. Currie Schools - Saving Lil'wat Language and Culture - short version Sep 03, 2020 11:38 am Welcome to Flyback Fridays - a glimpse into Pemberton’s past! This week we feature a short excerpt of the 2017 Tea & Tales presentation by Mámaya7 (Lois Joseph) and Tsínaya7 (Georgina Nelson), who told the story of how Mt.Currie schools were established to ensure Lil’wat children are immersed in their own language and culture. Since the 1960’s Georgina Nelson lobbied for funding for Lil’wat Nation to take over their own school and education system and has served on the Mt.Currie board of education for the past 35 years. Her belief is without our language and culture we would no longer be Lil’wat.

A very interesting view of history, that has never been told in schools! this is well worth watching (about 6 minutes). Judge Begbie travelled through what was then Port Douglas, stopped at th T'sek hotsprings, and continued on through Lil'wat on the old Caribou Trail, so was familiar with the territority in the 1860's.
