Hello Im here to introduce myself. My name is Heather, owner of Above & Beyond Bookkeeping Services Ltd. I began my business because I have a passion for bookkeeping and helping my clients. I am a single mom to an amazing 10 year old boy and I strive to make him proud of me and provide him with a great life. I began my bookkeeping career about 15 years ago after graduating from college majoring in Accounting. I like to take the stress away from my clients so they can focus on what is important which is running their business. Times like this I remind myself how much I love what I do. I am supporting many of my clients by answering questions and getting the ROEs done for their staff as quickly as possible. I have had to do mass ROEs in the past due, but never due to a pandemic. I am thankful for my clients and their patience while I tackle this alongside being a single mom to a 9 year old who is now home with me while I work. Having a bookkeeper who cares about your business and your success can make all the difference. Ask yourself these questions: Is your bookkeeper hard to get a hold of? Do you find yourself wondering when you will get a response to that email you sent a week ago? How much face to face attention do they give you... Have they stepped foot in your business or asked for a tour? Do they show interest in you, your products and how youre doing and seem like they would go above and beyond to help you succeed? If you are unsure or answer no, it might be time to rethink who you are trusting to look after your books. If they dont know you and your business how can you trust they will do the best for you?

With all the new Technology Fraud is a big concern. Here are some tips to keep safe: 1. Keep current with your software and virus protection. 2. Create Strong Passwords and change them often... 3. Review bank statements, receipts, and transactions 4. Do not give any personal information over phone/email/text and consider all unexpected requests to be fraud. 5. Protect your phone with a pin or password to keep locked from unauthorized persons 6. Sign up for email/text transaction alerts from your bank 7. Be aware of notices of "winning a prize" 8. Beware when signing a contract and paying online, make sure you understand the terms and beware of "free trials" requiring payment by credit card 9. Beware of "Smart" technology and the uses behind those devices. Report suspicious activity. Keep yourself and your information safe. If it seems to be good to be true it probably is.

2019 is coming to an end. How will you be spending the last month of this decade?

Payroll is coming to an end for 2019. Here is a small list of SOME of the items on my Checklist: 1. Verify your employee details making sure you have accurate names, addresses, sin and birthdates. 2. Update employees 2020 TD1 claim amounts for both federal and provincial after last pay of 2019 3. Verify all deductions for 2019 are accurate. Watch out for bonus cheques, incorrect birthdates, etc. Run a sample T4 and review deductions. 4. Verify employees vacation percentages ...are correct and make note of anyone changing in the new year. Match vacation accruals to the vacation liability account to ensure accuracy. 5. Verify your CRA remittance balance matches your records to ensure all payments have been filed. Make sure you are remitting based on your requirements. These frequencies may change as your business grows and payroll costs go up so keep an eye on your remitting requirements for CRA to avoid penalties. 6. Review benefit plans and make sure deductions and taxable benefits are reported correctly 7. Review WCB (this should be done a couple times a year to ensure your estimate for the year is in line for year end) Annual returns are due last day of February. 8. Ensure all employees who had a break in earnings had a Record of Employment completed. 9. Update your accounting software with new update if necessary. Feeling overwhelmed? Have questions?
