On the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour and remember the children who lost their lives at residential schools, and the survivors and communities who continue to live with the trauma of these atrocities. It is a day to listen, reflect, and acknowledge that we must educate ourselves in order to build nation-to-nation relationships with Indigenous Peoples based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership.
