Essential oil studies from the Tisserand Institute Feeling unusually sad is not uncommon in the winter months. Classic (winter based) seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a mood disorder, affecting people with otherwise normal mental health. Many studies have found that vaporized citrus oils are particularly effective for mood enhancement. Bergamot and lemon oils are among the most widely-researched for positive effects on mood. ... Rodent studies show that lemon oil is antidepressant (Komori et al 1995) and invigorating (Komori et al 2006). It also reduces anxiety and boosts both serotonin and dopamine (Komiya et al 2006), two neurochemicals that are often reduced in SAD. Both essential oils are available at the Oromocto Galleria.

PINUS sylvestris (Scotch Pine) essential oil has attributes in which to help diabetics; to decongest lungs, sinuses & throat; and to stimulate the lymphatic system. Goldenrod (Solidago canadiensis),is one of the ingredients in colonial Americas Liberty Tea. Tea was once considered to be anti-patriotic due to King George and his taxes. People turned to herbs for their teas, after the Boston Tea Party. Forage some Goldenrod flowers and put petals in sugar cookies, shortbreads, salads, muffins, and pancakes. In the past 50 years, the price of Indian Sandalwood oil has increased by about 200 times, although one reason for that has been the exploitation and consequent reduction of the natural resource. If supply exceeds demand for an essential oil then prices at source may drop, but these sav...ings are generally minimal and are not passed on to the consumer. Surges in demand stretch supply chains, and with the coronavirus pandemic, significant changes are likely, especially where there is an already fragile economy. I sent an informal survey to suppliers and sellers in various countries, and most are quoted below. I am always excited and pleased when asked the question, what do you think about multi-level marketing essential oil companies? I could answer this question til I am blue in the face quite happily, because its great education. My answer is always the same companies are somewhat self-regulating as there is no regulatory body in which to control what exact liquid is in the tiny bottle. Each country varies widely as to how their plants are grown, and in what conditions. In...dividual, independent testing would be required to find out whats in your bottle? Therapeutic-quality (no such thing as grade) essential oils cannot be used for cooking or drinking purposes, and to do so would surely cause internal bodily harm to organs and tissues. Food-quality essential oils do not and cannot have this test done without failing the test.
