[Chas Wheatley Commits to D1 University of Iowa Hawkeyes] "When I first came to Taylor, I had suffered an ulnar nerve injury requiring surgery as well as bursitis in my shoulder. Taylor built me a specific rehab program and guided me step by step every single day for eight months. The atmosphere and energy at AHP is unmatched. Taylor, Connor, and Ethan are committed and will do whatever it takes to help you reach your goals. I've trained along side many of my friends and have... met many new people along the way. AHP has become my second family." https://absolutehumanperformance.com//chas-wheatley-commit

We love rear foot elevated split squats, but there is also a lot of value in elevating the front foot at times as well - particularly in an effort to build resilient knees. Loading it via the 1-arm kettlebell front rack adds an additional element of rotary stability. Here, long-time AHP athlete and college volleyball player, Kassidy, makes these look easy! #AbsoluteHumanPerformance

Today Steph Kucy added her signature to our college athlete wall. She's currently in her freshman year, playing basketball at Lees McRae College in North Carolina. She's been training here for a few weeks now in preparation for her season, and we are fired up to have her a part of the #AHPFamily

[Front Squat from Pins] Every excercise in an athlete's program should have a clear reason behind why it's in there. So why do we program the squat off the pins? In novice athletes, it's a great exercise to teach them the optimal bottom position of the squat, effectively teaching them where they are strongest and how to drive out of the hole.... In intermediate and advanced athletes, the above holds true (everyone's technique can always stand some auditing and improvement.) However, it's particularly effective at building 'brute strength' by taking away the stretch shortening cycle. Essentially, we are isolating and working on the concentric portion of the lift. From there we can manipulate the loading to train max strength, submaxiamal strength, or speed strength. Additionally, if the athlete's sport is lifting - we may change the height of the pins to attack a specific weak spot or sticking point to build strength at that depth. When we coach it up we make sure every rep is 'dead'. The athlete must reset on the pins before they lift it again. Here, Chas is making 225 look buttery - pretty impressive at 6'7". #AbsoluteHumanPerformance #DevotedToDrivenAthletes
