Did you know that Canada has led the international development and implementation of trapping systems that continue to improve animal welfare? Animal trapping continues throughout the world for various reasons. However, until the 1990s there were no animal welfare standards for traps. It was on Canada’s recommendation and leadership that scientifically-based trap testing standards have been established. These standards are available for use by any country to measure and compare the welfare performance of different traps! #CanadianTrapping #ABTrappers #DidYouKnow

Tomorrow is National Truth & Reconciliation Day in Canada, otherwise known as Orange Shirt Day. This day is a national movement that brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the spirit of reconciliation to honor residential school survivors and their families. This year, September 30th is officially acknowledged as a statutory holiday. Here are two things you can do tomorrow to show your support: 1. Wear an Orange Shirt - Raise awareness and start a conversati...on about your orange shirt by talking about the history of residential schools and reconciliation 2. Watch and Share Phyllis Webstad’s Orange Shirt Day Presentation: Phyllis Webstad Orange Shirt Day Presentation Phyllis Webstad Orange Shirt Day Presentation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3vUqr01kAk #OrangeShirtDay #TruthAndReconciliationDayCanada #CanadaHistory

Trigger Warning: Residential Schools As an association, Alberta Treaty 8 Trappers would like to acknowledge those who have chosen to learn more about us - we see that we feel that, we respect and we honor that. We encourage all to reach out to one another, and we're not just talking about Indigenous to Indigenous or other nationalities to Indigenous. Rather, we encourage all Indigenous people to reach out to others and continue to share their stories. Share their good teachings. Support Love. Support for survivors and their families is available. Call the Indian Residential School Survivors Society at 1.800.721.0066 or 1.866.925.4419 for the 24-7 crisis line.
