Having access to your attic is important for regular inspection by the homeowner. On occasion, we find homes that have actually closed and sealed the attic access. In this particular home, our infrared camera located the attic hatch and was visibly missing insulation. The bright yellow colours seen in the IR photo indicate how much heat is coming through the ceiling.

Another interesting and unusual find! In every homes plumbing system, you have a plumbing vent or plumbing stack which allows all your water drainage to breathe and flow properly. Normally an ABS, cast iron or copper pipe is routed through the roofline for the plumbing vent. In this case, one of our inspectors found a baby wipes container capping the vent, with an interlock stone on top of it! Not only does this affect the drainage flow, but this also presents a safety hazard to the occupants should the interlock stone fall off.
