Following today’s 1:00 P.M. press conference and the new directives set-out by the Quebec Government concerning those in Red Zones, Elite Dance Academy will be following protocols and taking a short 3 week pause to our dance classes, from October 8th to the 28th. In the coming days, all Elite families will receive more detailed information from us after consultation with our union regarding how to proceed. Our competition families will also receive information specific to th...em. We remain open for classes tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday, and we invite our students to take advantage of enjoying their classes and dance friends before the short break. We are confident that after reviewing the extraordinary measures taken by dance studios across the province, combined with the fact that not one outbreak at any Quebec dance studio has taken place, the government will allow us to resume classes in the context that we have already been following - 2 meter distancing at all times, hourly cleaning of studios and shared surfaces, masks worn in common areas and the countless other initiatives we have been adhering to since July with a 100% success rate of keeping our students healthy. Although we had planned on remaining closed this summer, last week’s Green Light has led to lots of dancers asking if we will be having summer training! Summer classes are available to those who want to continue taking class this summer, however spots are extremely, extremely limited and social distancing measures have been put in place, which include: -Well-indicated Personal Sanitization Stations throughout the studio. -Cubbied dance areas for each dancer within the stu...dios, respecting the distancing guidelines set out by the Public Health Direction. -Closed-lobby policy - only dancers under the age of 6 may be accompanied inside the studio by a parent. For students aged 6 and over, an instructor will greet your child in the parking lot and escort them into the building. They will also escort your child out when class has finished. -Social Distancing floor indicators in all areas -Thorough cleaning of bathrooms, common areas and studio surfaces between classes. We know that by limiting the number of students per class so drastically that some of our kiddos may be disappointed, and we truly wish that we could offer full-capacity classes right now but we truly feel that for the safety of our students, their families, our staff and everyone else involved, this is the right thing to do. Please note that classes have been set up based on ability and not strictly age (with the exception of 5 years old and Under classes as well as Adult Classes.) It is suggested that Level 1/2 classes are appropriate for beginner or intermediate dancers aged 12 and Under, while Level 3/4 classes are appropriate for intermediate and advanced dancers (as well as our competitive team members.) Available styles include Ballet, Hip-Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, Jazz, Jumps & Turns and Street Jazz/Heels. All classes take place Wednesday evenings. The schedule has also been designed so that more serious dancers can take 2, 3 or 4 styles of dance if they wish, within the same levels, on the same evening, allowing our parents a worry-free night should they wish to drop their children off for the evening. What a season! This post-recital message is one that has looked somewhat similar each year - until the behemoth that is 2020 hit! Despite the challenges we’ve faced the past few months and the setbacks we’ve surmounted, my heart is still filled with gratitude and happinesses today after watching the Elite Family perform during Keep Dancing 2020 yesterday. This season, regardless of the turmoil going on in the world, was a success in its own important way because of EACH and ...EVERY student, team member, parent, instructor and Elite supporter involved - in short, the Elite Family . The passion, dedication and effort that every Elite student brought to class every single week was outstanding and inspiring. I am SO proud of their accomplishments this year. Finishing the last ten weeks of our year online was not easy, I know. It was incredible to see the devotion on screen yesterday, knowing what it took from your amazing children to even be able to put on any sort of performance at all. The loyalty and support of my incredible Elite dance moms and dads is unparalleled, I am certain. Your faith in Elite and in myself has been truly humbling. Watching my colleagues in the dance industry struggle, many losing their businesses entirely, was such an intense fear during this pandemic. Because of you all and your support, and only because of you and your support, Elite pulled through. Moving forward I will make sure that this was not in vain - your kids have an Elite to come back to because you chose to support us during this incredibly difficult period. This is just simply something I will never forget as long as I live, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Absolutely none of what you saw in Keep Dancing 2020 would have been possible without my incredible team of instructors. It makes us so proud to watch our dancers take advantage of some amazing training opportunities despite these unprecedented times! That being said, we also REALLY, REALLY miss each and every one of you! Don’t you think it’s time we start dancing together again? Yeah, us too! So, your Elite staff has come together and we are proud to announce that as of Monday, March 30th, Elite is going 100%... virtual! That’s right - we are opening our digital doors and will be ensuring your dancer’s continued education by offering your child’s regularly scheduled dance class completely online, using a platform where your dancers won’t just learn from a video but will have the opportunity to interact and communicate with their teacher, dance alongside their classmates/teammates and most importantly, get back to the COMMUNITY that we all love so much! We are so excited to be able to offer your kids a sense of normalcy and a source of joy in these uncertain times.
