I was talking with my stepdad, Tim, the other day. He was telling me about what it was like growing up in rural Ontario on the family farm. He told me that winter was a good season. It was a time to repair the broken tools and to tell stories. That got me thinking. Winter is not a season that many people purposely slow down for. It is not a time used to fix what is broken. For many, winter is a time that must be gotten through. For others, winter is no different than any othe...r season, business as usual. For the Taoists, much like for Tim and his family, winter is a time to go in and fix what needs fixing. But, instead of fixing farm tools, the Taoists use this time to go within and do inner work. To mend the harmful stories that exist in the inner world. Winter is a beautiful time to do just that, to slow down and look inside. To heal the inside. Allow nature to be your teacher now.
