We all have a part to play in making this season a great one. This next release of our Return to Play Plan aligns with the new public health sports guidelines and the mandatory safety protocols in place for AMHA and our three local hockey facilities. With this new plan, we are now in a position to invite one parent/caregiver of U13 players and younger into Acadia Arena during their child’s scheduled times of our competitive tryouts. Please read this plan and be prepared to ...follow all the new protocols in place before you come to the rink. Access the plan on our website at: http://acadiaminorhockey.com//amha_return_to_play_-_second Let’s do this together. Let’s do this for the kids. Andy Forse Chair, AMHA

ACADIA GEAR SWAP is a GO! Our annual gear swap is happening over the next two weekends, just outside the door of the Acadia Arena. We’ll be taking some extra measures to ensure COVID safety. To lessen the handling, we are asking that items you donate be separated and placed in clear plastic bags for easy storage and viewing. There will be volunteers outside of the door of Acadia arena during the following time slots to accept your donations this weekend:... Saturday, October 3rd 12pm - 3pm Sunday, October 4th 11:30am - 5pm Gear swap items will be stored for one week and then displayed and up for grabs over two days the following weekend, Oct 10-11. Times to be determined - please stay tuned! While choosing items, participants will be required to wear masks and social distance. Time to clean out those hockey bags!

As many of you are aware, Hockey Canada made the decision earlier this year to change from a name-based division system to an age-based system. The chart below outlines the changes that have been made. Keep in mind that the athlete must be under the number indicated in the division name on December 31 of this year. For example,... In September 2020, both player A and player B are 10 years old. Player A does not turn 11 until January 2021. Because he is going to be under 11 years old for all of 2020, he would register in the U 11 division. Player B turns 11 in December 2020. Because he will not be under 11 years old for the full current year, Player B would be registered in the next division up (U13). For our younger players, the name changes may add a little confusion. Children under 7 had previously participated in IP (Initiation program). At a provincial level this was broken down into IP 1 and IP 2. Children aged 4 and 5 would participate in IP 1, while 6-year-old players will participate in IP 2. Acadia Minor Hockey has always followed the same age grouping, but our 4-5-year-old group participated in our Quick Start program and we simply referred to IP2 as IP. Going forward, our Quick Start program will continue as normal, but our IP program will now be called U7. See more
