A green smoothie a day keeps "The Stifles" away! (Recipe below) What are "The Stifles"? Growing up, my mom always said that she felt claustrophobic when she didn't eat a salad every day.... I used to think that was r i d i c u l o u s and made ZERO sense - especially since I hated salads as a kid But when I started making daily green smoothies a few years back, I understood what she meant. Now when I don't start my day off with a green smoothie, I notice that I feel kind of trapped & like I'm not able to function at my peak. I feel less motivated to work, to work out, and to eat well through the day. A #loaded green smoothie is exactly what in the mornings to kickstart my day and feel amazing. maybe it will help you too! And SO, ________ Here's my go-to NUTRIENT-PACKED GREEN SMOOTHIE recipe! **Makes 2 days' worth of smoothies. Perfect for large blenders** 2 tbsp chia seeds 2 tbsp hemp hearts 2 tbsp flaxseed 1/3 - 1/2 cup oats (sometimes I omit these if I want a more potent fruit taste) 2 bananas 1 chunk of ginger 3-6 cups greens 2-5 cups frozen fruit Usually frozen berries as well for taste and health, but it makes it super ugly (PSA: purple and green does NOT mix nicely!!) Enough water to allow it to blend well and have the consistency you like Pro tip 1: blitz the oats, chia, hemp, and flax together beforehand for a smoother consistency. Pro tip 2: add the bananas, ginger, greens, and frozen fruit, in that order. I find that it blends the best this way. Pro tip 3: Save the leftovers for the next day in a resealable jar! SAVE THE DATES & SEND TO YOUR FRIENDS. Let's WERK! ____ (Thurs Dec 3) at 6pm we've got WERK IT PERK IT CIRCUITS, live from @uschealthpromotions's Instagram page!... This class is 45 minutes long, and all you need for equipment is 2 weights (dumbbells, water bottles, cans of beans, etc.) and a mat (or towel, carpet, or blanket). We're firing up our muscles AND our heart rate in this epic class. We WERK & PERK our major muscle groups with compound exercises () as well as peak our cardio with some jazzy moves! There are modifications for everyone, and we will get in a good warm-up and well-deserved (!) cooldown. ____ (Dec 4) at 5:30pm is my favourite class ever - DANCE & DRINKS ! This class will be happening live here on @accentfitness.ca. Grab your go-to Friday bevvie and best dancing shoes, and let's cut some rugs!!! (no dance experience required) This class will be 30-35 minutes, and includes 3 types of tracks: Burners (), Peakers (), and Partiers () tracks are choreographed to work one major muscle group for the song and light them on FIRE tracks incorporate dance with a bit o' HIIT to spike that HR and take your cardiorespiratory fitness to the next level tracks are fun, feel-good dance parties meant to lift your spirits and help you feel vibrant AF ____ If you like the sound of these classes and want to give them a try, hop on my Instagram Live at those times. This is how my heart feels when I teach fitness classes There's no better feeling in the world than teaching an amazing class that helps others test their strength, push their limits, try something new, and have a BLAST! Watching my participants become stronger physically and mentally is beyond inspiring to me. Knowing that I can make a difference in someone's life on such an important level is so humbling, truly rewarding, and such a privilege ... Even after over 3 years of teaching fitness, these feelings never go away! 5 TIPS ON OVERCOMING THIS LOCKDOWN! Hello lovely Accent FitFam! As Toronto & Peel Region get locked back down today, I want to remind you of a few important things to keep in mind as we head into this lockdown (or tighter restrictions, if you're in other parts of Ontario). 1 Be kind to yourself (and others)! You are amazing. You are doing your best. You are not a failure. Times are really tough, but you will make it through we're all in this pandemic, and we're going to ...get through it together! 2 Whenever possible, go outside and get some fresh winter air Walks are amazing for the body and the mind. Otherwise, bundle up, step outside, close your eyes, and take some deep breaths to recentre yourself. I guarantee you'll thank yourself for it. 3 Listen to your body Nourish it, rest it, move it, hydrate it, treat it. Appreciate it, respect it, and care for it. It knows what you need! 4 Exercise in ways that you enjoy and that make you feel VIBRANT AF! whether it's a strength training workout, a quick HIIT sesh, a dance party, a yoga flow, a run, etc., do it for YOU because you LOVE it (I will be posting some workout ideas throughout this week to help you get inspired!) And, last but not least: 5 Take a deep breath. You've got this. WE'VE got this.
