The Accessible Wilderness Society would like to thank all those hard working men and women who are currently working to control this fire just north of Campbell River. The fire is on the south side of Roberts Lake, our 23 lakefront acres is on the North End. Be safe!! Thanks again

Our good friends at the Sam Sullivan Foundation and their organization the Tetra Society have come up with a genius idea that we are proud to support. Please check out their kickstarter campaign and help them achieve their goal. https://www.kickstarter.com//tetragear-innovative-safety-l

This is a great National Organization helping people with disabilities by providing online training in both Business Development and Website Design programs. I'll be there and so can you, in person, or online.

Thanks for the mention Spinal Cord Injury BC. Kudos to Gerry Price for representing the AWS at the REE at the ROO event.

We all have days when we think "We Can't...". This is a reminder that most of those things we decide we can't do are simply things we haven't given enough thought about trying to do... We here at the Accessible Wilderness Society subscribe to the idea that all things are possible...together.

Now that's accessible...works well for Mom's with strollers as well. Universal design is a wonderful thing.

AWS Picture of the Day. Bear warning! This wasn't my picture but right after this momma bear finished her bath, my son and I nearly walked right into her and her 2(!) cubs. Time to be a little less cavalier with my photo excursions. Check second pic in comments. AWS Picture of the Day. Ferns, ferns and more ferns. They line the sides of the trails, the roads and anywhere else the sunlight reaches the forest floor. Green green and more green, that's what our world west coast rainforest looks like. AWS Picture of the Day. These aren't the biggest Douglas Fir and cedar trees around these parts but when they get to be a certain size they achieve a certain 'stoic-ness' that exudes peaceful serenity. All the big cedar and fir here were logged off in the early 1900's; these second growth giants are nowhere near as big as the old growth trees but they are still pretty darn big. The Accessible Wilderness Society hopes to give these same experiences and benefits to every body, regardless of their abilities! I hope you're enjoying my Accessible Summer! Like. Share. AWS Picture of the Day. Moss on a maples... there's more and more detail the closer one looks. Spending time alone in the forest gives an introspection into self and into life that is often unachievable in the saturation of activity and sensory bombardment we refer to as 'real life'. It's nice to sit still and enjoy the real 'real life' that surrounds when in the wilderness. The Accesible Wilderness Society wants to make those same experiences and benefits available to every body! Next year for sure...

AWS Picture of the Day. If you stare at a cedar bough long enough, and intently enough, and examine the amazing detail it possesses... eventually you will want to take a picture of it. At least that was what happened to me today. Take a look for yourself. The Accessible Wilderness Society wants to make those same experiences and benefits available to every body! AWS Picture of the Day. There is something about the serenity one finds sitting in the silence of the forest immersed in the serenity of nature. It does a body good to commune with nature in this way I believe. The Accessible Wilderness Society wants to make those same experiences and benefits available to every body! AWS Picture of the Day. This wasn't the only wildlife I came across the other day, although this little bunny was the cutest. Hours earlier, and unfortunately without my camera rig, I was startled to have a very large black bear stroll across the road 30 or 40 feet from me. What was most amazing was how silent he walked. Most starling was his (her) size at almost 4 feet at the shoulder! I was all ready to flee in my power chair but was glad I didn't have to because it was an amazing wildlife encounter in my Accessible Summer! Like. Share.
