Tarifa has a special place in the heart of every European rider. It is a kind of a magic spot where the Ocean meets the Mediterranean only 18 km far from Afric...a. I spent many winters in this place enjoying the variety of conditions that the bay offers. At the hurricane I did my first forward a thousand years ago but I still have that precise feeling inside me. The conditions are almost never perfect but the difficulties make Tarifa a unique spot for training. Yesterday the final between the new Caledonian talent Tituan Galea and the Swiss wing master Balz Müller was held in 15/35 gusty side off shore wind and in these very difficult conditions Balz sailed as he always does: "ALL or NOTHING". Both riders went for their small wingsail and high aspect front wings. Balz managed to close a 720 toeside, a flat 540 and a perfect landed huge backloop with even a forward (with butt check). On the opposite, Tituan rode clean but much more conservative with 2 big flat 360, some great twisted jumps and many big raileys also tried to show his surf skills (sorry no waves to get extra points this time) but at the end Balz got a clean win. Congratulations to all the riders taking part at the event. My personal "special mention" goes to Maxime Chabloz who is one of the rider I like more in the world for his unique style and naturally to Balz' Sab Foil team mate Riccardo Zorzi , 14 years old, at his first International event managed to show his great skills. I have no doubts he comes back home motivated to train and push his limits. Thank you Balz Müller and Eva Wyss JM ps. Ehi Balz, I felt it was different for you this time and you really wanted it

Look who’s in the current issue of Douglas Magazine. It’s Julie with the mayor of Victoria, Lisa Helps. The story is about the new arts and innovation hub to ...be created downtown. The vision is to have a major marine technology hub in downtown Victoria - a means of nurturing Victoria’s already-robust marine tech sector. See more
