For the second day of Black History Week at ACDPN, we are proud to honor Chiquita Brooks Lasure. She is an American health care policy official graduating from Princeton with a Bachelor of Arts and Georgetown University with a Masters's of Public Policy. Throughout her career, she has worked for the Democratic members of the United States House Committee on Ways and Means and was involved in managing policy for the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. On Fe...bruary 19th she was nominated for Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Today she is known as the first Black woman to run Medicare services in the Biden Administration. We would like to applaud her continuing contribution and achievements! Today, we celebrate her many achievements and her contributions to medicine. #trailblazer #blackhistory #ourstory ##blackexcellence #BHW

The seventh principle of Kwanzaa is Imani: Faith. About Faith, Rhonda Elkelish our Alliance for Community Adaptation Project Lead says: "We can make a positive change in the lives of our community members because I have faith in my coworkers and I have that faith within myself. I believe that those we support have the capacity to learn and grow from us and we from them. For me, most importantly, I have faith that God will give me the courage and strength to face each day as i...t comes." #ACDPN #Kwanzaa #Kwanzaa2020 #Imani #faith

The sixth principle of Kwanzaa is Kuumba: Creativity ACDPN introduces Amanda Ruggles, our Community Liaison she writes: By honoring my own creative energy, I can share it with my Black community, in the hopes that I may leave this world more beautiful than I came into it. I am continuously inspired by those who have come before me. I am inspired by their desire to create and to leave a lasting legacy.... #ACDPN #Kwanzaa #Kwanzaa2020 #creativity

The fifth principle of Kwanzaa is Nia: Purpose Meet Justene Edwards, our Community Outreach Agent who writes: I am the product of the Black community and that is why I feel that it's important to give back. Without going through the experiences that I have, and without meeting the people that I have, I would not have found my purpose here at ACDPN.... #ACDPN #Kwanzaa #Kwanzaa2020 #Nia #Purpose

Tania Callender says the following about Kwanzaa's fourth principle Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics. I am responsible for my financial legacy and creating lasting wealth for my family. The same is true for our community. As a collective, we are all responsible for the financial legacy of our community. We should invest in our businesses to support their development and we encourage them to pay it forward by reinvesting in the community. This idea of collaborative economics has the power to eliminate the inequities that currently exist and that benefits us all. #ACDPN #Kwanzaa #Kwanzaa2020 #Ujamaa #CooperativeEconomics

Yesterday, we lost not only a colleague but a friend. We are heartbroken today and there are no words to express our sadness. David was our leader. His passion and determination are the prinicipals that have guided our work with youth protection and conjugal violence. His laugh was infectious and our team will always remember our inside joke "Stay Black!". His professionalism and class were why I called him our "Grand Poobah". To his family, please accept out deepest con...dolences. He was a great man and a great role model. To my team, David is irreplaceable but we will continue the work to bring his vision to life. He asked me that it be his legacy at ACDPN. It now becomes our mission. #SWR

We would like to extend our dearest condolences to the family and friends of Chadwick Boseman. A superhero both on and off the screen. Chadwick spent his final years dedicated to sharing the stories of Black characters with the world and being a voice for those without one. He will be remembered for both his talent and activism.... Rest In Power Chadwick T’Challa Boseman. #wakandaforever

Between April 1, 2002, and March 31, 2011, a total of 15,875 children under age 15 were reported to the child protection. Out of the 60% of cases where race statistics were retrieved 2731 were black and 2264 were from other visible minorities.
