At Cougar Collision last week, on a longboard that Gord has layed a couple different types of miniflake over Graple candy, cleared and sanded out when I arrived...
Finally got the page updated, and it only took two weeks! I'm blaming my newfound hibernation skills; apparently I've become so used to social distancing and self-isolation that now I don't want to do a fucking thing! Can't even blame my newfound sloth on waiting for government money either, 'cause I didn't apply for any of it. Technically, I'm still working (TG) so not eligible. On a serious note, that's a good thing; there's LOTS OF PEOPLE out there who DO NEED IT, and cer...tainly many things to do around here even if I don't have a brush in hand (and if I can't think of anything, all I have to do is ask Laurie!) Business-wise, things have obviously slowed down somewhat, but the phone is still ringing. I have noticed several customers getting back into the garage to work on projects, because a few of them aren't getting out of the house to work on, well...work. Like a good chunk of us, I'm spending more time around home and completing a few projects in the basement and (hopefully) in the yard now that spring has finally arrived. Might actually get to work on a few cars this year...hey, ya never know! FWIW, I'll be knocking the dust off a few ideas that have been gathering LOTS over the last few months (or years) and trying to use the downtime productively...that's the plan, anyway. Stay safe everyone, and stay positive!
Currently finishing some logging trucks in BC, upon returning I'll be practicing some self-isolation...which means I might actually update this page... Might drive Laurie nuts, but at least the cats will be getting fed on time! Besides, they say hard work has never killed anyone, but around here we won't be taking any chances (thanx Al)... In these extraordinary times, everyone stay safe...keep your distance...trust no one...believe nothing...and dont get paranoid ffs!
A random sampling of previous work on rigs past from over the last 40 years! Hopefully a few of these are still on the road...btw, these are in random order, so where possible I've tagged them with a year and location to the best of my memory. I'll update and add to this album as it goes; but if anyone out there recognizes these rides, or can add to the story, please chime in!
TG the deep freeze is over! Venturing outside again, we've managed to get a couple things accomplished. Got the 2020 Triumph unveiling handled at The Station handled; thanx to Daren at Capri Motorsport, and to Hector and Davis at Argyll Motorsport for setting up the paintin' area and the coffee. I've started a 2020 album and actually got some pics loaded in there...maybe I can stay current this year? Just a thought...
Happy New Year everybody! I've finally updated the page, and am almost thru posting work from 2019...ffs...I'm blaming it on the weather, think my brain is frozen! Along with just about everything else... Anyway, still have a couple more projects to catch up on but they'll have to wait till next week; unfortunately must return to work tomorrow to get everything done that should have been done 2 weeks ago...before everything went glacial and we slipped into hibernation!
Now that's a truck! On the road in Lac La Biche lettering a couple rigs. I've used Russ Halliwell's layout/colors from the 90s; good taste never goes out of style! Second Pete was done at Stahl in the PDI shop.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!
Very cool truck...always a pleasure to work on this old iron!
Trying to catch up on some work in the basement and avoid the onset of winter Close as I'll come to actually hibernating, I guess...
Whoops! Always good if I remember the pic...
Taking advantage of the last nice weather! Got the outlines done and touchups completed on the cladding above the windows, and Alex installed the sign. Congrats to Alex on opening the new store, it's a real treasure trove of days past...make sure you drop by and have a look around! 10985 127th st
Makin' a mess at Adam's...silver leaf on his Caddy. Wait, that was last weekend...this weekend was more of an "eat and then recover" type of thing...
Just a short note to let everyone know I'm having some REAL issues with Messenger...it wants to be reloaded every time I open it! Will get with the comments as soon as this issue is fixed; in the meantime, thanx to everyone who is looking at the updates and/or commenting!
Well, I finally got most of the update posted...spent a good part of the last couple weeks flat on my back, bloody flu just knocked me flat ffs. Anyway, for what summer we had it sure seemed to rocket by...if I haven't been painting, (or sick...haha) it seems I've been driving somewhere. Put enuff miles on this year to make me think its the 90s all over again. Will get some more up here as the week progresses, been working on a couple other projects that are almost done and then I can post 'em up!
I will actually update the page over this weekend, and as much as I'd really like to blame the weather or my work schedule for lack of an update lately, it's my own damned fault...dammit... Tho I have been busy and the weather totally sux...
Looking forward to spending the day out in Galahad tomorrow at Griffy's Antiques...hopefully I will not be pinstriping in the rain! Wouldn't be the first time... In the meantime, a mini-update. Spent a long but very enjoyable day in Sundre this last Wednesday working on a few vintage vehicles for Chris & Heather Aldrich and family...always a blast! Thanks to Jolene for setting up the gig, and to Brian for shop use AND letting me smoke while I worked! The barbeque rocked too!
Looks like summer FINALLY showed up TG...short update tonite as the yard and car work has tired me out Haha. We'll be in Galahad Saturday June 22nd 10-3 to do some striping and lettering at the opening of Griffy's Antiques.
Woodgrainin' away in speedy creek...
Well, all the pics are loaded and I'm halfway done...apparently Laurie is getting an early lunch so I'm off to buy her dinner. I'll finish the update this afternoon, if I don't get distracted by too many hockey cards which might show up in the mail
Figured I'd better make another post on this page before the year expired...in process of updating page (finally!) during a rare day off at this time of year. So much to do around work-wise here I can't even keep track of these bloody OPC baseball cards that keep piling up FFS... I will try NOT to do what I did in January, which was to post on the wrong page, and then forget to add pics...brutal winter, maybe my brain was frozen!
Well, looking at the weather outside today I'm glad there's nothing doin' till tomorrow...think I'll plug in the car
misc brushwork in 2018
Finally getting around to updating this page once again...a steady spring/summer with lots of road work has kept me busy and away from the computer! The major drawback to updating every 90 days or so (and something I keep meaning to shorten up) is by the time I actually get around to posting pics and some reasonable description, I'm having a hell of a time remembering where I was and what I was doing... Anyway, I'll be adding to these updates today until we're almost up to date...
Trying to make the old and damaged look...well, old, but not quite so damaged. The Red Indian sign took about 5 weeks (off and on) and the Auto Haus sign only a couple. Special thanx to Guy and Dean @ Showtime Auto for the letting me weld the Red Indian sign in the shop; and to Chris @ Sideshow Fab for punching out the metal blank for the AutoHaus sign!
Gettin caught up and current, bit by bit...by the end of the week I should have 2017 all finished off FFS. Still a couple more projects to get into albums!
